I just installed a new hard drive on my regular computer. About time I was at 7200 rpm. Anyway, installation was a breeze, and the Windows XP installation went flawlessly. I get up and running, and everything seems to be in order, until my net connection dies.

I've restarted several times and its the same thing each time: my connection will last for about 30 seconds, and then stop responding. And it's not the actual connection, because I just hooked up my other PC to it, and its running fine right now.

What could be doing this? I'm about to try switching the network cards from these two computers around and see if I somehow damaged the other one. Any thoughts would most definately be appreciated.

i actually experienced this same exact problem when i was putting together my uncles computer. didn't figure it out completely, but what we did know is that with service pack 1, it didn't do it, with sp2 it did. we ended up just plugging in a new NIC(the one giving problems was integrated) which worked wiht Sp2. not sure why that worked, but it did. the integrated one had problems.

but it would also help if you listed your specs including service pack and NIC.

edit: btw is your name inspired by jesse and joey's boss in the tv show full house? i know its a long shot
