ok, so i have a 300gb comin in tomorrow, and since i have 2 hd's internal and an external usb hd already, i was wondering whats the best way to copy my files over from one hd to the new one. so far, i have a couple options:

- put the new hd in my usb setup and copy files via usb(slow)
- unglug my dvd drive and put my new hd in there, copy over and then take out the old hd

any suggestions?

Is definetly the fastest way to do it but u might loose ur warranty on the drive if its sold as an external hdd assembeled from the supplier.

And if your running USB2.0 (U should be) then its not that slow actually, just do something else while its copying.

Though I don't understand how you gonna do that, you can do the old fashion way by creating a temp folder, copying all files from the outgoing HDD, installing new incoming HDD, and copying files from temp folder into new HDD. That way needs about the same time as doing the 2.0 USB transfer.

Good Luck.
