New headset problem

okay, the mic works but sound is coming out of the speakers i put the sound configuration on the headphones, and it still doesnt work. does anyone know what the problem might be?!

is your headset plugged in? (not the mic the other plug)

ya it is, and its a usb headset, i dont know if that makes a difference tho.
