...with David Fincher helming at least part of it!!
Paramount Pictures has signed on to create an animated film inspired by the 1970s sci-fi fantasy magazine "Heavy Metal", with director David Fincher on board.

According to Variety, Heavy Metal will be stamped by the erotic and violent storylines and images that remain the trademark of a magazine that debuted in the U.S. in 1977. The magazine introduced the works of American artists and writers such as Robert Silverberg, Harlan Ellison and H.R. Giger.

The film will consist of eight or nine individual animated segments, each of which will have a different director.

Fincher will direct one of the segments; Kevin Eastman, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator who is now owner and publisher of "Heavy Metal", will direct another. So will Tim Miller, whose Blur Studios will handle the animation for what is being conceived as an R-rated, adult-themed feature.

...urge to kill rising, RISING, RISING!!!!

WHY? for the love of all that's holy why the hell dont they just call it something else? or at least stay faithful to the comic? not every single story had sex and violence in it, that's what made it so great ...they'll just ignore the european comics (heavy metal started in france) that made it such a success and instead concentrate on boobies and the over use of pew pew ..does anyone remember that atrocious Heavy Metal 2 Fakk something or other ..it started a porn actress..that's enough to tell you how utterly crap it was ..why does "adult" mean nudity? the comics were full of thought provoking stories that many adults wouldnt understand let alone children ..so why water it down to the most basic of common denominators: sex and violence?

they really need to stop mining the past and shredding great IP's

I BET THERE WONT EVEN BE A CAPTAIN STERNN SEGMENT!!!!

Seriously, I don't mind a trashy Heavy Metal movie with gratuitous tit shots and violence in all it's puerile, sci-fi, B-movie bullshit. Y'know? A film that just wallows in that degeneracy with no excuses. Maybe it's because the magazine was before my time. I just don't know it as anything else.

that's not at all what the magazine is like ..it's not b grade sci-fi it's far more intelligent than that ..sometimes you'd have a hard time picking out the sci-fi elements in some of the stories ..even the original movie didnt fully represent what the magazine is like ..they just picked a few characters that were somewhat popular like Richard Corben's Den or Howard Chaykin's Captain Sternn

edit: whoops, Bernie Wrightson created Sternn not chaykin

Well yeah, that's what I pretty much granted. I only know it as the trashy sci-fi of more recent.

Sweet! Great thing is that one of Marc Laidlaw's stories is involved!

Jeez, I couldn't watch that movie without thinking of you stern.

Can't say I've heard of Heavey Metal, only thing that interests me is that Fincher is on board.
