New HL2 Xbox Pics

Well, as was discussed earlier it's only going to be as good as a computer on medium settings. There will be some parts though that are better because they have implemented that new lighting in it.

New lighting? Please don't tell me your talking about HDR.

It'll look better on TV. Dont judge the game by a couple of stills, for Christ sake.

Well for the most part I'm not, I'm judging it by the Xbox's capabilities. :farmer:

It does use some aspects of HDR, such as blooming etc (i think, don't quote me).

Well it looks like HL2 to me. It will probably be just as fun, no matter what the graphics. I play in 2048x1536 and yeah, it looks cool.. but it's still the same game. X-box players should be excited.

Doesn't look that bad..

As long as it runs alright there shouldn't be a problem. Finally, my friends with only an xbox can experience HL2..

edit: £10 they'll be calling me the day after they get it asking for help :p

The Xbox version will use blooming(Not an aspect of HDR, entirley diffrent thing) in certain areas. It is only to make it look better graphic wise. This isn't "Massive blooming", but just enough to help make the level look better.

€20 they'll be call you 5 minutes later and ask you "WHO THE F*CK IS THIS FREAK!"

Wow. It looks bad.
Graphics suck compared to it on PC. its all grainy from a moderate distance in some areas (like on the NPCs)

wow..... the skinning on the models looks so terrible
it hurts to look.
makes me shudder thinking that it will be on a console.

Looks like the Textures were affected the most, they all look washed out.
Uhhgg! and the Jags!! The Terrible Jagss!
Reminds me of Starfox for the SNES, All the Ugly Jags!

Yeah, the textures are pretty bad, but as for the jaggies the natural blurriness of TV screen will smooth out most of them, I think.

Yeah, thats what I've been trying to say but some people fail to grasp the concept. You cant judge Half-Life 2, for the Xbox, on a couple of screenshots on your monitor. Televisions hide the lack of anisotropic filtering very well... the same applies to anti-aliasing.

Valve know what they're doing.

That's about the size of it. The XBOX is getting on a bit now especailly in terms of the speed things move on in PC technology. It was never going to compete graphically with the PC but if it plays well & they've got all the physics in there then XBOX owners are in for a treat. Especially since the extra handicap provided automatically by the Joy-pad will actually make the game challenging to play.
