apple just finished the 4th generation iPods so they should be out soon. cheaper, smaller, and they have a click wheel. Too bad i already bought a 20GB 3rd gen one though .

i prefer the glowing buttons above the touch only wheel, to that click wheel. although i've never used one...

the main changes are that it's thinner, has more battery life, has a click wheel, and has a shuffle button on the menu, so i think we're safe

No. Definitely not. $299 is the cheapest model. I just bought an iriver H120 and I'm quite happy with it. 20G, long battery life, radio, internal/external recording, optical in/out, remote w/ display, etc. $290. I recommend it. Now if we can only get new firmware that allows on the fly playlists...
