I recently got a creative 6000 desktop (I thin it's awesome :D), and it has media buttons. 10 of these are programable, but one important one is not - the media player button. It opens your default media player (which is WMP) but I want it to open winamp.

How can I set windows to use winamp as the deafult player? Hopefully it'll change what the button opens......

no idea, i have a MS natural keyboard and the meida button opens itunes for me.

might wanna try chainging the defaults for your movies and such to winamp might work

Yea as ^^ mentioned changing the default app might work. Also, did your keyboard come with any software? I got a new logitech media keyboard a few weeks ago and with its software you can change what program the media keys defaultly open - yours might have similar software aswell.

If none of these things work try googleing cuz there should be a way to do that or even an app for that - cuz I'd imagine your's is a common problem.

I would assume it opens it by launching the specific WMP exe rather then by default file type. Not sure how to change that except if you found it in a config file within the folder for the keyboard stuff or through the registry (gl on that and don't mess anything up).

Although if you want to change the default program for a file then open My Computer and go to Tools/Folder Options. It will be under the File Types tab and just find the extention of the file you want to change it for.
