dunno there's a couple of things that bothers me here...

1) flashlights doesn't really seem to light up anyhting.

2) view-bob looks retarded...guess I've become used to Insurgency's awesome looking "view-bob"/free weapon when turning etc.(heck doesn't HL2 have this aswell?) in L4D it just seesm like the weapon is glued to the screen...

3) sounds...although it's hard to judge with the idiots talking...it seems the sounds in particularly the gun sounds aren't very good.

4) no ragdoll for zombies? atleast it seems there's death animation in there(zombie falling slowly to the knees)...honestly it seems to ruin the visceral feel.

5) 1st person muzzle flash looks awful. in general weapon animation/models seems lacking.

hopefully these things will get some more polish before release)

No Way! Shit Looks ****ing Crazy!

I didn't notice the other stuff, but I do recall the machine gun sounds pretty generic, but of course, thats because each type of machine gun has a unique sound.

For example, how many games feature an AK-47? No wonder I'm tired of hearing that ****ing thing fire.

the game looks lamer every time I see it.

Completley ruined. Way too arcadey.

Looks increadibly fun. Although it doesn't have everything I want, they can add it it later. Different gameplay types, different skins, models, speeds, etc etc etc.

Maybe they can have a barricade gameplay type where you board up a room that you pick and survive for a period of time.

Remember, if it becomes real popular, the more varied it will get.

I agree, I'm getting turned off of this game especially with so many other games out at the same time.

hahah did you see the fat zombie puked blood  ****ing ouch!!!

Yeah, I'm pissed.

I thought that it was going to be a semi-realistic zombie game simulation.

Guns are generic as hell, no recoil, nigh-useless flashlight, Quake-ish movement, and it looks like zombies don't have locational damage.

Great, another game ruined by being made arcadey as ****(ie : Quake Wars). :|

Children, Children, Children.

Play it first, then critique it.

Except that L4D has always been like this, yet every previewer that plays is is enthusiastic about it.

Zombies do have localized damage because it's possible to blow heads and arms off, from what previews wrote.

How is the flashlight useless there when THE PLAYER DIDNT USE ANY FLASHLIGHT in that footage? Yes, the others did, but that's a very simplified version that's much cheaper to render than the per-pixel, shadow-casting flashlight you get to use in first person.

Zombie games are an instant sell if they are hyped enough, even if this ends up being a 2 hour arcade fest and is totally mediocre.

I dont think this has been hyped up alot compared to alot of other games though.

I think it looks great. If the zombies were of the slow variety then they could afford to make it more realistic. But the pace is fast (i'm loving it) and you have to be able to keep moving without taking more time to kill some guys with careful aiming.

I'm going the opposite way unlike some of you. The more I see this game the more I want to play it right now.

The main feature of this game that they're pushing isn't realism...they never were. It's teamwork that they're showing off. It takes great teamwork to survive and good teamwork to take down a coordinated team survivors. This game would suck if it was realistic.

Looks awesome, but one thing annoyed me though. How the the guns sorta got pushed back when they ran forward, like wtf.
Minor things that can be fixed with custom models.

Can`t wait to play it, PC`s need a good coop game, this seems to be it.

Problem we have is that we are spoiled. There are so many games now, each generically the same, but now 'n then a better-than-average shooter comes along with maybe one or two great features that advance the genre that little bit further forward. At least, until some developer thinks it's a good idea to release the next absolutelybadass title without great features like optimisation, leaning, kicking, object manipulation, vehicles, dynamic shadow, wind resistance, avatar limbs, locational damage, realistic ballistics, hires textures and zero clipping, resetting the bar at ground level again.

It's no surprise we are always left expecting more.

So what we have here then is another basic fps that is fundamentally the same as what we were all playing years ago as Duke Nukem or Jack McPhucking Shrapnelsack, running around a dark street which is predictably blocked at both ends with trashed cliches, shooting a shotgun at some jerky bad guys who for some psychopathic and strangely paranoid reason want to run straight towards us and rip out our livers.

But i'll be dipped in dogshit if it don't look fun. Even if it does look dated, lowtech, potentially elitist, messy and repetitive.

I haven't been following L4D at all, and dont' really have any idea what's going on, but I'll say that video looked damn fun.

Haha I for one am not upset at all that this zombie game lacks realism... All that really matters to me is fun co-op gameplay, been looking for a game like this for years.

Look people, if the zombies were slow, than this game would be so easy to beat. The one thing I would really like to see is jimmy rigging traps, building stuff to keep out and destroy zombies, etc etc etc.

I wanna barricade a house dadblast it!

I hope the game is easy to mod for. I'd like to see many different game modes, such as some mentioned here.

I hope you can pimp this game like you can CSS. The default models and skins ain`t exactly to my likening.

It does look very arcadey. I don't know if I would like it that much; I understand that the point isn't for it to be gritty and realistic, but it just looks way too silly.. super speedy zombies running in lines, waiting to be mowed down by recoilless weapons. The player-controlled "tank" unit looked real dumb. I did like the incapacitation feature, though. But still, I'll have to actually play the game to see if I like it, and it does seem like it could be great fun playing with a few buds.

They ain`t zombies, that`s why they can run so fast.
It does look a bit too arcade but still fun.

I need this game NOW!!!..... please?

Opinion: **** slow pace gameplay, you have running zombies, it's no time to sit down and light a smoke :smoking:. It's time to run for you life and kill 700 of em while being on high adrenaline

The so-called "death animation" is just a step, you can see it ragdolling after a second.

I like this. The Ai guy at Turtle Rock has a habit of making AI that doesn't use nodes (Condition Zero), so we can possibly expect that here as well. Good job Turtle Rock!

EDIT: FIRST PERSON LEGS? OMGWTF

EDIT 2: The zombie running animations look amazing.

The fast paced gameplay looks 50/50 to me. In the houses/buildings it looks really messy, and I can assure you accidental TK'ing will happen. On the streets, however, with multitudes of zombies running at you from the other end of the road... well, that just looks like something from 28 Days/Weeks, so that looks awesome.

Weapons remind of HL1 and other older FPS games. Deffo. needs more work to the recoil and perhaps the sound, too. But aside from all that, I'm just looking forward to playing with some friends and slaughtering some zombies.

my opinion: zombie master and L4D should combine to produce the ultimate zombie survivor mod.

I prefer the slow style of ZM myself.

LFD is run and gun x1000 and really could be about killer bees or crazy dogs attacking TBO, its just complete mayhem and not really 'zombie' at all.

ZM needs work but it has much more scope and really does make you feel like you're in a Zombie movie. The idea of blocking doors and building barracades, preserving ammo plus more than 4 people on a team is much better IMO.
