New Maps

I never played the original DoD, so I dont know what the other maps were like. Does any1 know when new DoD source maps will be released and whether they are good maps or not?
Also are there any maps in the rain...I always thought it would be pretty cool to have a map in the rain, dunnno why.

Donner was rainy in the original. I mourned the loss of the rainy moody atmosphere of Donner.

i doubt that Valve is concentrating on dod maps right now, but alot of user made maps are starting to appear.....search around for some

The maps in the original dod were much better imo, not in graphical detail of course but in atmosphere. All the maps right now are way too bright imo, they just seem too bright for my tastes. Yes donner used to be my favorite map, it was rainy, and felt like the sniper scene town in saving private ryan. Really a shame they felt the need to brighten all the maps and make them all pretty like that if you ask me. I hope its a trend they break with some new additions down the road. If you have never played the original dod, I recommend downloading it and seeing for yourself, on top of the maps I hope they add obj maps where each side tries to blow up a target with dynamite, those are lots of fun.

Yeah I agree that the present maps do lack atmosphere; I think a rainy map (like the original donner map which Ive never seen) would feel more realistic.
At the moment none of the maps feel like a gritty, muddy war-time environment. I hope any new maps released will be better. the maps are fine in terms of balance and gameplay-just not very atmospheric.
By the way can I play the original DoD for free??

ya well put, they do need a whole new map. with the amazing graphics and sound all they need is a map that is down and dirty. i always thought the old charlie map really caught the feel of a war time environment. caen as well, though again, a bit too bright.
