This should ease people's confusion.

£80 sounds like a lot for a collectors edition :|

Aye that's because it's a collectors edition :) Could be anything from £60-£100 really.

I'd personally say £50 but I guess it depends on what is included.

£50 would be acceptable anything more would be pure milkage.

half-life 2.net shouldnt of even mentioned it. right now theres not even a real method of purchase theres a thoery with gabe newell said maybe it would happen like this.

he said this is one possibility, meaning its not an official method...
id advise removing the page..

Hey could you guy's also post an alternate price in U.S. dollars? You guys don't have to... I know I'm just asking and you have no obligation to listen to me. Still good info none the less.

Gabe Newell: Here's my current thinking: Some people want to buy Half-Life 2 in a store. Right now we have three SKUs planned at three price points.

The collectors edition hasn't as such been officially confirmed but we know it's a high possibility.

Guess you said it yourself. ;)

But it's still nice to know and quells most of the initial forum questioning and confusion. Of course, the disclaimer being "subject to change" quaquaqua...

And I'd pay anything for a Collector's Edition, my preecioussss~....

I'll poke Munro onto it :)

sweet... this had me a little confused too... Thanks for clarifying...

So in canadian prices... $48 bucks for the single player (wow..thats expensive...)
$84.99 for the full traditional...??? That cant be right... A full game shouldnt be more than $60 bucks cdn.... and then estimated $200 for the collectors edition... no way... I wouldnt pay more than $150 for a collectors edition, unless it came with a lot of real cool stuff.... I converted the currency here: http://www.xe.com/ucc/

Anyways, we'll see when its in stores :)

??! I got completely different numbers, well, at least for American Dollars. Are you sure you converted the right currencies?
I got:

Single-Player only: $36.16 (so I guess it'd be $39.99)

Traditional: Without even looking, I know it'll be around $49.99, $54.99 at most as is common with games.

Collector's Edition: $144.77 ?? No way. The Warcraft Special Edition (that came with engraving, book, autographed manual, soundtrack, and a cinematic DVD) was around $69.99 for comparison.

Yeah I converted correctly... UK Pounds right? or are the numbers on the page in euros?
Plus I converted to CDN dollars...

I'm guessing you can buy the HL2 SP/MP through Steam too. Wouldn't make sense to only allow people with a subscription to download it.

The prices are in pounds sterling.

I wouldnt use the uk prices as a base to convert the prices into US dollars, there's really no comparison. Think about it your average cd in the states is waht say $12 yet in the uk it'll be £12 which is at least a third as much as the us price.

Just go by what your average new game is priced at in the states and go from there rather than convert from the pound price :)

Hotsoup is right

The UK has one of the highest costs of living in the world at present, which basically means we pay through the nose for absolutely everything. Straight forward cash conversions don't really work because goods in the UK are much more costly (**** you very much Mr Blair!!) :frown:
