The new payload map has been unveiled on today's "A Heavy Update" website. See the new map here
Badwater Basin is a Payload map focusing on more open spaces and less chokepoints than Gold Rush. (A) Right out of the gate is a multi-level area where the Blu team needs to control the high ground while moving the cart through a tunnel below. This open area has few natural choke points, allowing Scouts, Soldiers, and Demomen to move creatively through the space, forcing the Red team to rapidly respond to choices made by Blu. (B) As the track winds its way into tighter spaces, vertical control becomes more important. Each successive checkpoint requires the Blu team to take control of defensive positions above the track, usually occupied by Red Engineers. (C) Eventually the track winds down and a large basin which the Blu team must assault from all sides in a final push to destroy the Red base.
Unlike Gold Rush, where the track is split into three separate stages, Badwater Basin uses a single large stage with several checkpoints. As a result, the Blu team is highly encouraged to push the cart hard after beating their way through the Red defensive line.[br]

Looks pretty damn good to me. I love the continuous stages as well instead of the, "Oh we won the round!"

Pretty damn epic...

I wonder if Valve could beat this with the new gamemode...

FIND OUT TOMMOROW ON A HEAVY UPDATE!!

Looks like fun... vertical gameplay was one of my favorite elements back when I played a lot of half-life dm.

I would love to see some new environments. These new maps are all starting to look the same now.

Looks are far from gameplay. If the map is fun as hell, the way the map looks matters not!

The new environments will be presented in the next few days, with the 5 new maps for a new gameplay type.

Valve said they're rolling out a new gametype with 5 new maps right after they announce a new map setting. They said the Heavy Update was gonna be a big one.

My logic is undeniable.

Made by Valve. The community made map was already announced, cp_steel.

Looks very nice. A cross between Goldrush, Badlands, and Gravelpit.

That's exactly what I came here to say.

Hopefully the new map/gameplay thing is true/valid/etc. I haven't been around to know if it is, it could be totally confirmed and I still wouldn't know. Anyway... :)

We'll see when we actually play it. 3 screenshots not enough to judge it on.

Wow, this map looks incredibly open and massive. I'm quite eager to see todays update. Either the new shotgun and meet the vid or the new environments

No fair. You had almost 12 hours of experience I didn't to reach that conclusion.

Heavy Industry: Fire $200,000 worth of minigun rounds in a single life.

From the Heavy achievements. Isn't that only 6 seconds worth of firing?

^ Yeah if you go by "Meet the Heavy", doesn't really sound right does it?

"It costs $400,000 to fire this weapon for 12 seconds" Yeah, it would be a very easy achievement! ;)

It's $200 per round. I'm guessing you have to shoot 1000 rounds. Or 5 full ammo capacities.

Yeah, all you have to do is stand with your back to the supply cabinet in the spawn and open fire.

Isn't that basically the same as the "Surgical Prep" achievement? Really, really easy setup phase achievement.

It might be an achievement created to nudge players into discovering things about the class. Surgical Prep made players go "Oh! I can have an uber ready at the start," and this one will make players go "Oh! I can stand by a dispenser and be a constant turret."

It didn't help me one bit, but that's because I've played TF2 near-daily since the pre-purchase beta :p

LOL! Everyone go to the official Heavy site and look at what the put down for mondays upcoming news...
