new pc maybe?

Those are all quite expensive parts.

Get the 8800GT instead of the GTS.

4gb RAM is overkill- cut it down to 2gb (2x1gb)

PSU is also overkill- 500w is all you'll need.

But if you've got the money to spend, I guess go for it.

4gigs isnt overkill anymore. Near-future games will start needing it. Especially since hes getting Vista.

Eh? Vista manages memory better than XP does- you must be mistaking Vista's requirements for its desktop functionality for the base memory you need.

4gb is overkill. You will see no improvement in current games like Crysis. If you need 2gb in the future, buy it then, but don't buy it now and put stress on it when there's no need.

LOL! 4 gb of ram isn't overkill :O

Dual-Core - 2 cores each running at 3GHz

2.4 $220http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017
Quad-Core - 4 cores each running at 2.4GHz

Thanks!
It all depends how many cores are going to get used. Most apps/games are not going to use more than 2 cores and will therefore be faster on the E8400 since it runs at 3GHz. Although some games and apps can use quad core for more FPS or cool effects/features. Of course creating videos (encoding) and such is faster on the quad since most of those apps can use quad core.

You can go through the charts on this review and look for the E8400 (3GHz dual core) and Q6600 (2.4GHz quad core).
