my current machine is crap, at some point I'm getting a new one: can someone reccomend a good PC, with good processsing power, a decent graphics card, decent RAM and is good for games? (that preferably isn't one of those really tacky "gaming computers")

I never really thought about that? prpobably anything below 1000 quid, that might not sound like much but I saw some pretty cheap ones on the PC world website.

Europe eh?

Not sure which stores are local to you or even ship to your location, let alone the price but I would advise a system based around the following hardware. Simply price them where ever you live.

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.0GHz
Motherboard: ASUS Maximus II Formula
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar 1TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 w/512MB
System RAM: G.SKILL 6GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Triple Channel Kit
Sound Card: Depends on your OS - Vista - Use the onboard - XP - Use..... Some love the X-Fi & some don't. I have an old Audigy 2 ZS & it has never let me down.
Power supply: CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W CrossFire Ready - 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

With the release of the new Core i7, it's hard to build you a PC that fully uses all of "Todays" newest tech, as since it's new, it's expensive. The choice is really yours. The above listing is just a very basic guideline. However, it will provide you with excellent performance, now & for at least a year to some, if not longer. By then "Todays" tech will be much cheaper & "Tomorrows" tech will have been released.

you're losing money to others labor that way. You can get more bang for your buck if you build it on your own. But here's a customizing site if you still don't care: www.ibuypower.com
Don't know if they sell to non-US.
