New PC

Well im in the process of ordering a new pc but i dont really know that much about it, i know enough to know the what bits i need but i dont know the excat bits i need, so i was hoping someone in the know could help me out!

Im looking to get an AMD 64 3500+ which is Socket 939. Im finding it hard to find a board with PCI Express. I also need it to have a network card and would be great for it to have a built in sound card. I dont want it to be a crappy make, ASUS would be great.

I maybe wrong but AMD dont do PCI-Express boards yet only Intel do.

Alienware sells an Intel PCI-Ex system not and AMD based one.

Don't bother with PCI-E, you don't need it. And don't get an Intel system just for PCI-E. Get a good AGP socket 939 board and the 3500+, it'll be worth it. And you can just get a 6800GT and you'll be set for a couple of years.

what i have planed so far is:

AMD 64 3500
ATi X800 pro
1 gig of p4000 ram

This board has gotten some great reviews.
There are still some problems being worked out with it, such as not reporting temperatures correctly but that should be fixed in some of the bios updates.

Ok i been looking through parts and stuff and i have arrived at the video card. Now this has been bugging me for ages! ATi or nVidia?!

The ones i have looked at so far:

ATi

or

nVidia Geforce 6 Ultra

Can someone please tell me which is the best make, i really dont want a card that is going to be crashing on me all the time.

For HL2? x800 XT ofcourse

Not just hl2 but all the other games too. PS 3.0 will be in games in late 05 or early 06 so you really won't be needing it for atleast 1 year and by then ATI has released a new card with PS 3.0, sell the x800 xt to someone before the release and you should get most of your money back and be able to buy the new one.

Ok, so say i do get a radion which make should i look at, as i say i dont want it to be crashing all the time, yet i want it to be very fast!

yes an x800 will do, infact, if u dont buy it, gabe will make sure U dont play hl2
