I'm gonna be purchasing a new phone shorlty after my birthday. I have narrowed it down to 2 phones :P

1. Sony ericcson K750i, on O2 Pay as you go - £169.95

2. Samsung d500 also on O2

Just wondering if anyone can give me some info that may help me deicde :P

Thanks:imu:

The K750 has a Memory Card slot to you can put more memory in it if you want to use it to play mp3s (up to 2 gb)... I'm not sure if you can add more memory to the Samsung. That said the K750 is about 6 months older than the Samsung so if you are going for the flashest newest model that's something to bear in mind...

I've got a Sony Ericsson K300I, the budget model of the K series :p
It's still very good, has 12MB internal memory (which is more than enough for music files and high quality pictures), so I'd say go for the Sony Ericsson.

The K750i's joystick thing which you use to navigate around the menu's etc is really dodgey. My friends broke after a while and he has to push it really hard to get it to move in any direction.

I have the D500, awesome phone in my opinion. It can play MP3's too. Has a 1.3megapixel camera which is pretty decent and it can record video in 3gp format. It's got 96MB of memory if i remember correctly and you can pretty much do anything you want with it.
Can't think of anything i don't like about the D500 off the top of my head.

They're both good phones, but I like the K750i better. And if the it's been around for six months, all the better. Plenty of people have had experience with it so you can find out what a lot of people think instead of getting the latest and usually not so greatest model.

QFT  (i don't mean get both, but both are great phones).

OK - thanks all, think i have made my mind up, and i'm going for ....

- K750i - cheaper, nicer camera, and i found out that can take 2gb memory :O !!

Thanks for help all !

i had a 750i but took it back cos the bluetooth didnt work. nothing you transferred into it with the supplied cable showed on the phone, it didnt transfer SMS' stored on my current SIM card....oh yeah and while it looks nice, the screen is too narrow (thats just me being used to a wider screen, the 750i just seemed to tall if you know what i mean) oh yeah and its slow to respond cos its got to many flashy effects.

it also feels like a toy phone. REALLY plasticy. it just feels cheap and nasty.
the camera was ace tho as was screen quality.

i would go with a samsung cos those feel well built and have equally nice screens and features.

btw if u want to get a 750i you can get it ar carphone warehouse for £150

I've got a NEC N343i which to be honest can be a bit awkward at times. However, the i-mode makes up for that. I've found it useful - free email on the move. It was only £40 so I don't know why I'm telling you all this though :rolling:

Girls think it's a sexy phone too ;-)

K750i is a great phone, I got one about 13 months ago, but last month i got my yearly upgrade and got an XDA Mini S on o2 ... also good :)

The features on the k750i are plentiful and well thought out, the camera is pretty good quality (even by camera standards) and the 'light' feature is a real lifesaver sometimes. Probably the best all-rounder phone i've ever seen, definately the best i've ever had.

Keep your eyes open for the K800i though ... a better camera, even more features ... probably a perfect phone if ever I saw one.

With regard to what Ren.182 said .... I had my k750i a year without it breaking, it still works fine now - as it happens, a friend of mine got a D500 a couple of months after I got my k750i, and his navigation panel (the up/down/left/right pad) stopped working after a few months. I guess reliability just comes down to how you treat your phone.

If you want my honest advice (having been up close and personal with both the k750i and the D500) i'd say go for the k750i ... it has more features, (very useful features), is a solid construction (the d500 slider is just another thing to break, to be honest), and the camera quality is good enough to serve as your digital camera (the d500s camera quality is pretty shockingly poor).

True that. Guess my friend isn't the most light handed when it comes to things like this. He dropped his brand new £200 mp3 player right outside the shop after he brought it :P
