New planet found, Slightly larger than pluto

Using the latest up to date brass gallileo telescope they have discovered that saturn has more than one ring! omfg big news!

Xena was discovered in july 2005. Source
The news is that Hubble had a look at it and measured it more precisely.

Yeah, pretty old news but interesting none the less.

Is it linked to our solar system and rotates around our Sun?

Yes.

I doubt that. It just came up on the Nasa website.

Murray is right, we have known about Xena's existence for several months, we also know about Cedna, which was discovered a few weeks apart

I wouldn't go that far and call it a planet. It's in the Kuiper belt, and don't like to classify those objects as planets.

Bah.

They've been debating about the classification of planets, subsequently, "new" ones that they found, for like, a year.

They say that either Pluto is NOT a planet (and instead, a giant ball of ice that broke off from the explsion of a more giant ball of ice, and part of a asteroid belt), or that there is a tenth planet that should, by Plutos classification as a planet, be a planet (forgot the name of it, but yeah...)

So either Pluto is a planet, and we have 10, or pluto isn't, and we have nine.

Yeah i'm pretty sure, this isn't new.

Its ment ro be orbiting the solar system, quite a large distance away though.

Shouldn't it be:

Either Xena and Pluto are both planets, so we have ten in our Solar system. Or neither of 'em are planets which gives us the grand total of eight.

IMHO both Pluto and Xena (and Cedna for that matter) are large Kuiper belt objects, not planets. They are all very small and their orbits around the sun are very irregular.

An international consortium is deadlocked in the decision on what constitutes a planet - i.e. there's several different points of view, such as:
1) Pluto should be a planet, because historically it has been.
2) 1000km radius minimum.

Errr, I forgot all the other points of view, but there were negatives for each opinion.
