I'm thinking about replace my current PSU (Genric 430W that came with case) with this PSU: http://www.svc.com/tt-w0033.html

Main reason I'm considering a new PSU is a)generic ones are usally crap. b)my generic one only has 4 seperate molex connectors, so my case is daisy-chained all over the place. c) I like to OC, so a better PSU definitly wouldn't hurt.

I'm considering this one because a) it's quiet b)looks cools c) comes with all the other stuff.

I wouldn't use the heatsink that it comes with, but the 80mm fan that comes with it might replace the 80mm fan on my cpu currently, or one of my 80mm case fans. According to this review the 80mm fan is ~17dB on the lowest setting (out of 3) and can move 47.28 CFM at the highest speed.

My case, as-is, couldn't use the 120mm fan, but I was thinking about dremeling an 80mm hole in the top, and expanding it to 120mm might be worth it, 'specilly if I have the fan, which also runs ~17dB on the lowest setting. And 120mm fans can move some serious air.

And the fan controllers are very cool. :)

thoughts? comments? warnings?

I like the Antec TruePower series. I've got a TruePower 550W in this comp, and it's running beutifully, no powerhickups at all.

:afro: GO for it its a nice PSU . make sure u got a ATX case though. and u might not have to upgrade... your psu might be generic but have alot of power. Considering my PSU i say OVERAll dont get it.But y not it wont hurt

Yeah they're good as well, but Thermaltake's psus are just as good. And that's an awesome power supply. But at $65 you're paying too much, and you can actually get a much better one for $10 less. Here's my favorite from newegg and for a good price, it's an awesome power supply:

Yes, the Thermaltake Silent PurePower is a great series. I'm getting (forgot the product number) the 480 watt one after Christmas. I'd go for it if I were you. Oh, it also should come with a nifty little fan controller you can hook up to an optical drive bay. Enjoy.

but for that extra 10 dollars, I'm getting an quite, high air moving, 3 speed 80mm and 120mm fan. Plus the fan controllers. Getting a good 80mm and a good 120mm fan for $10 is no mean feat. Yes, it's 410watt as opposed to 480watt, but 90% of all home pcs use less than 300 watts on start-up, and less than that on nomal use.

I think it would be a good deal considering the fans/controller it comes with. I can see you want it and I don't think it would be a bad choice. ;)

Just see if you can use it all (120mmfan/controller). :)
And why wouldn't you use the heatsink/fan? It works with P4's (Pentium 4 Socket 478), K7's (Athlon XP Socket A/462) and K8's (Athlon 64/Opteron Socket 754/939/940). Have something better right now?

Yeah, I have a thermaltake silent boost, which has an all copper heatsink more, and thinner, fins. I might switch the fans out... haveing a controllable 3-speed fan would be nice.

my only largish concern is that that fan is on the bottom instead of in the back... does this mean it will blow hot air into my PC, or will it suck hot are out?

If I remember right, from my Antec which I assume is like all others, the ps blows hot air into the case. This is offset by the big casefan on the back of the case that immedeately blows the air out and away from the mobo. Get a matching 120mm big fan for the front of the case that sucks air in, if you haven't got one of those already, too, so you get that nice wind-tunnel effect.

Pretty cool deal there, btw, although the psu could have a bit more oomph than 410w.

well, 410w is more than enough oomph for me :)

I have 2 80mm fans in the back sucking air out, and an 80mm fan in the side sucking air in. Can't put on in the front, but I was considering putting the 120mm fan that would come with the psu in the top sucking out.

Hmm I didn't notice it came with those fans, and if your rig isn't a power hungry beast like say Guinny's then that 410 is perfect.

I have a 450W BeQuiet PSU, and it works like a dream. I have the color edition with 2 neon-lit fans. The PSU-casing is shiny/sexy :) Automagically adjusting fans.

I have a thermaltake case, and what I have noticed about the fans that came with my case (Xaser III w/window), is that 2 of the 7 fans didn't last for more than 1 year before they became very noisy. I clean all the fans every other month, so it seems that they have worn out. Just have that in mind about those TT fans. Well, fans can be replaced and are not that expensive, but I'm just giving my honest opinion.

Fan controllers are great though :)
