After Ubisoft officially announced Prince of Persia 3, I suspected they would've also released a new website.
My suspicions were correct.

Don't worry, Ubisoft promised to keep everyone happy.
If you liked the Sands of Time, don't worry. If you liked Warrior Within, don't worry. I bet the other guy in the picture is the "Dark Prince".
The Prince of Persia, a seasoned warrior, returns from the Island of Time to Babylon with his love, Kaileena. Instead of the peace that he longs for, he finds his homeland ravaged by war and the kingdom turned against him. The Prince is rapidly captured and Kaileena has no choice but to sacrifice herself and unleash the Sands of Time in order to save him. Now cast out on the streets and hunted as a fugitive, the Prince soon discovers that past battles have given rise to a deadly Dark Prince, whose spirit gradually possesses him. Game features include: - Play and master two distinct characters: Wield the powers and weapons of two master warriors with different combat styles, attitudes, and histories. - Choose your way to fight: Master the expanded Free-Form Fighting system to destroy enemies in your own style; strangle enemies from afar with the deadly Daggertail; or surprise them with full-speed one-shot kills using a brand new stealth art. The choice is yours. - Battle freely through Babylon: Dominate enemies on the perilous rooftops, dodge through chaotic streets, and ambush pursuers in dark, underground passageways.

Ubisoft reveals the first official images of Prince of Persia 3 envisaged out of PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube and PC for the second six-month period 2005. After its dangerous tour on the Island of Time, the Prince of Perse east of return in Babylon with its Kaileena beloved. But the kingdom proves to be devastated by a war of which it is designated as the person in charge. The Prince will quickly be captured, Kaileena will then decide to sacrifice himself by releasing Sands of Time to save it. Our hero will find himself pursued and discover that its preceding combat gave rise to malefic Dark Prince, which takes little by little possession of its heart. The play will propose to play with two different characters having each one their own characteristics, the system of combat named ' Free-Form Fighting System' will give to the player a greater freedom of movement and will thus make it possible to remotely strangle enemies thanks to a mortal whip.
I got this part from www.ignpc.com.

Let's just all see. How is more of the same? Just because it's the same prince? Have you failed to realize that this is a direct sequel? They expanded the Free-Form-Fighting system, added a new weapon known as the Daggertail, allow the players to roam freely in Babylon and improved the graphics. There's also a new playable character. The game actually isn't getting darker. Ubisoft is also emphasizing an a stealthy method to kill adversaries. But kept the Sam Fisher image out of your head.

I still think it looks too consolyzed.

I never buy sequels that just "add" stuff to the 1st one. I only enjoy sequels that actually change everything isntead of trying to improve the 1st...

Those screenshots are heavily touched up in photoshop, it's nowhere near that sharp in game. It still does look good though.

One look at those screens, the site, and the press release, and I have every reason to worry. Actually, not even worry at this point. Just reconcile with my utter disappointment.

Considering that all we've seen are a few screenshots featuring one enemy and two environments, which are both light and dark, the stuff you abhorred must have been the Prince's costume. I'm not sure why that dooms the new one.

The Sands of Time had Jordan Mechner (Creator). They also had Yannis Mallat as the producer. For Warrior Within, they had Bertrand Hellias. Ubisoft is bringing back Jordan Mechner and Yannis Mallat. It's like Splinter Cell and Pandora Tomorrow. They practically handed it off to another team. I bet they also started working on that game for a really long time, even before Warrior Within was released. Chaos Theory was in production since 2002.
