About 6-8 months back, my windshield wiper motor died on me. Well, I got a new one, and when I put it in, the blades acted...funny.

First off, when I first plugged it in, Setting INT worked fine, then 1 worked at low Speed, and then 2 worked fast. After a few minutes though, after I took the speed up to 2, it wouldn't shut off...or slow down. Then after a bit, 2 was the new "OFF" position. Then after a bit, 1 speed was the ONLY one that worked..the rest stayed "OFF"...so I took my dash above the steering column off, and here are some fun..and dusty...pictures!

As soon as I can, I'm going to try to get that switch relay fixed...until then though, since 1 speed works, I can pass inspections finally. WOOO, legal car again, here I come.

Now I just gotta get that damned transmision and new clutch kit........ :(

Why not get a new car?

That car looks like shit tbh, and you could get a used reliable one for like $500..

This is a RX-7. You can't just "get another car".

Go to a junkyard and find a replacement dash ffs, that thing looks hideous

The dash is fine, it's just taken apart. Any dash looks horrendous if it's 1/2 apart. I used to have the upper lip on it out of the seam because of prolonged heat exposer...but I forced it back into place, and it looks 10x's better now

And the car is classified as "Shit" but it has 150 HP stock, and it's a fun as hell car to drive. It's definately opening my eyes to the mechanical world of cars. teaching me alot, while frustrating me more :p

Nice ! i just installed my hood and carbon fiber mirrors, and today i just put on my new JWT pop charger.<--- intake

Apparently not. Did you see the thread in games chat where hes talking about buying a million games and a 60in uber-tv?

:p

Is that a riced out civic I see behind that 350z? D:

Why would you buy a used car with a rotary engine?

Trade that thing in and get a 300zx.

P43.2/1Gig/X800P: Normally I take performance over cosmetics, but you just ruined that 350z. :( If that would have been a G35, I think I would have shed a tear.

Speaking of an rx-7 my friend just got an blue-ish green colored FD efini edition or whatever. I want one even more, I can't wait to drive it. :x

I'd take a used FC over a used 300zx any day. I will agree with you on that second part tho.

Damn ricers.

Same. I've always loved the Rx-7 line up.

Give me a Twin Turbo 300zx and I'll be in heaven. :D

Well actually I'll change my statement some...it depends on how much money I have at the time and the prices of ether car. If the 300zx is waaayyy cheaper then the FB/FC...then I'd go for the 300zx.

Give me one, I'll have a major headache and demand a cherry picker so everytime I want to change anything on the engine I have to rip the damn motor out. :flame:

*cough*dyno queen*cough*

Also, yes they do last a while. Example the 787B...

The 787B's 4-rotor Wankel powerplant was specifically developed for this race and featured Peripheral Porting in order to achieve the high levels of power from a naturally aspirated motor. (Road cars utilizing two-rotor engines, such as the Mazda RX-7, more often use turbochargers to obtain a high power output.)

The 787B's 26B Wankel engine benefitted from a variable intake system, optimizing air intake for certain vehicle speeds. Two periscope-shaped air intakes were mounted ahead of the rear wing. Each intake assembly was mated to a telescoping-pulley system which was able to vary the height of the protruding periscopes through a stroke of approximately six inches. The extension and retraction of the intakes was governed by the car's ECU computer depending on vehicle speed. At high speed, the intakes were retracted to decrease drag and smooth airflow over the rear wing, and to reduce the restrictions on the air flow into the engine. At lower speeds, the intakes were extended in order to provide maximum positive pressure to the charge entering the rotors.

Engine speed (RPM's) were deliberately kept low for longevity under the extreme stresses incurred during a 24-hour automobile endurance race. The 787B was reported to have a redline around 9000rpm. However, interviews with Mazda's 787B race engineers revealed that the power of the quad-rotor increased dramatically above 9000rpm. One engineer stated that the car could develop more than 930hp with a redline around 10,500rpm. Engineers also commented that during the post-race inspection and tear-down of the quad-rotor engine they discovered that all aspects of the engine were still in excellent condition and could have run another 24-hour race. This is a polarizing testament to the reliability and performance of the modern Wankel rotary engine.
The 24 hour endurance race they talk about is none other then Le Mans...

I advise some of you to read those two wiki's and more on rotary engines in general. Also here's another link that gives a lot of info about rotary engines and the history of them...

http://cp_www.***********/rotary/index.htm (Seems like the filter blocks tripod websites, but yea...just enter "tripod. com" where the asterisks are.)

Some of the pics on that site are gone and the site isn't very well made, but it gets the job done.

I'm a real fan of nicely tuned RX-7s (not the old style) and the new RX-8 ... I just don't like old cars simply because they break down a lot (i.e. this thread).

I'd say get a new car.

I love old cars. Mainly cars from the 50's on to the late 70's. That was the golden era of cars...whether it was Domestic or Import.

I'm gonna see if I can't get me a 1974 Datsun 240z or a 1974 TVR 2500M.

Ah yeh, classics ... I love classics too, but theres a difference between a 1980s "old car" and a classic car.

The best cars are classics that have been stripped down and rebuilt with shiny new (and upgraded) parts.

d00d. get a V-tec sticker... it's a proven fact that a V-tec sticker adds 25bhp... ^_^

Ya dawg and nozzzz.

But yo car ain't pimp without tha stylin' body kit, G.

OUt of interest, what generation of RX-7 is that? Is it the original ultra lightwieght sereis one, the big, fat, slow and generally Americanised gen 2 or the super car like sereis 3?

If you knew the difference between a FB, FC, and FD was, you would already know.

Neither the FB or FD has that dash. It's the FC.

*cough*dyno queen*cough*

That video he posted with that supra isn't a dyno queen, it has a TH400 IIRC. So it will actually make it down the 1320 at least in the 9's without much difficulty.

That's exactly a dyno queen. :shh:

Don't be a bench racer. :p You don't know what it will do/make.

You're being a bench racer still. D: Says nothing for that supra in the vid. :p I can easily pull out "facts" from other vids and quarter mile slips and so on.

I noticed it's mostly ricers that do the whole..."I saw, A friend of mine...," and so on when it comes to cars. So stop being a bench racer. :p

Here's a fact, there's an FD rx-7 in japan that puts out 650rwhp and does the quarter in 9 seconds...ON STREET TIRES! /sarcasm

So as you can see, it's stupid disturbed. (Even tho that 9 second rx-7 is true.) ALSO....you do know why they are called dyno queens in general right (there is the occasional non-dyno queen supra)?

Alright bitch, fine I'll put out facts. Local 600rwhp built auto(if converted to 6 sp it would be 750-800rwhp) Supra ran his fastest time of 10.20 in the 1320, now go suck yourself. ;)

Looks like someone needs a nap.

Heh. My dash looks like yours does in that pic. Mostly because some assholes broke in and tried to hotwire it :(

Its cool though. I quite like having wires and stuff exposed.
