This engine is consistently wowing the crap out of me! These in-game assets look incredible!! And the lighting on the dragon is mind-blowing!

Man, between UE3, CryEngine2, and this, we are in for some fearsome potential in our gaming over the next few years!

Yea the Offset game is looking really promising.

I really liked the collision interaction with things like plants in Crysis.

I hope these games turn out to be good, but I'm always sceptical of every game.

The best games seem to be the surprize hits, not the ones you expect to be great, with the exception of the awesome HL2

Between the battle of the engines it seems Offset/Crytek won this battle over UE3. I thought we wouldnt see anything that much better then UE3 untill half a year or so after UE3 but with all this i cant help but think ID/Valve are falling far far behind and UE3 just looks normal now. I hope valve and Id come out with counters, the more engines the more competition the better for all of us.

You dont know which one is more practical and scaleable. That's what truly makes or breaks a gameing platform, not sheer gloss and graphics beuty. For example the Doom 3 or Crytek engines (in certain situations) when compared to Source are considered to look much better, but which engine would you rather build your game on? Personally i'd choose source for sheer ease of use and scaleability. I'd rather have an engine that can do it all than an engine that in certain situations can look beutiful but otherwise cannot perform.

This of course all depends on software and documentation as well - which caused Crytek, in my eyes, to be a commercial failure.

Is there a direct feed anywhere?

This engine looks amazing. The game sounds awesome and massive (multiplayer wise) too!

With all the talent, money, and fans valve has, they are destined to do something huge.

iD Software has said they are working on a new game for the next gen consoles, and it sounded like they wouldn't be too far off, although they didn't give any details, but knowing iD, Im betting 90% chance of FPS and Im not complaining.

also:
Wolfenstein will use the Xbox 360 as its "primary development platform", while Enemy Territory: Quake Wars will launch on the PC first.

I'm glad you know exactly what's going on at VALVe. Come on, you don't really think they're just sitting on their arses over their developing the HL2 episodes do you? No doubt VALVe have implemented things into source they haven't told us about yet, and I doubt they will tell us until they're absolutely ready.

Let me get this straght i wasnt flaming valve in any way. I know they have lots of new tech they are going to show of. Im just HOPING it can ride on the same road with these guys.

This engine vs Crytek2 engine.

I think they are the same......... WOW.....

I disagree Raziel, yes CryTek and Offset(created by 2 damn people, ****ing amazing), but UE3 still has been licensed out alooot. Not only that, you can pull off graphics just as good on Ue3 as you could on Offset as you could on CryTek. They can support wickedly high texture sizes, dynamic soft shadows while using other types of shading, physics, and etc...

You may see one really looking cool face on one engine, but not on another. Does that mean that other engine can't pull it off?

It all matters when and who your targetting. Alot of the UE3 screenshots were seeing are targetting toward this year. Crytek's new engine is targetted toward next year with Vista and Dx10. See where im going?
Then it comes down to tools and documentation. UE3 was made to be licensed out, it was made for Epic to get rich simply off the engine and even moreso off the game. They have editors with real-time physics and the whole works.

hehe just kidding around.

but seriously... old.

cannot CANNOT wait to see this thing in-game and in action, really neat looking stuff.
Hahaha!

I just figured it deserved its own thread so more folks would notice it as this game is using one of the sure-to-be most amazing engines anyone has seen to date and the vid just rocks. Those idle animations (if that's what they are) are just breathtaking.
