New Sega console

Wow, that is cheap. That might result in an impulse buy from me.

Looks like Sonic 4 will come out on this one.

I'm going to keep this new avatar until Sonic 4 comes out.

However, gamers hoping to be able to load in more games will be disappointed, although the makers say that they hope to offer more Sega titles in the future, you won't be able to add them to this system.

So there won't be any new games for it?

For their other product (The Zone 40) they stole art assets from other games.

The Zone 40 also has Sonic etc on it.

Oh lawd

I doubt this is made by Sega. It'll be some shit rip-off company who've just licensed the games.
Well, it does say 'Official SEGA licensed product' in the top left corner...

These things have been doing the rounds for a good five years now. Fifty pounds seems an awful lot, especially looking at those controllers. Playing on the damned thing will probably look like you're struggling with a lolly-pop-stick joke for half an hour.

Oh, emulation is a terrible terrible thing. But thank **** it exists.

I'll be interested when they make a console that plays all of their arcade games - particularly the later ones - like Bass Fishing and Sega Rally. Those would actually be great with a motion controller.

It reeks of one of those korean rip offs.

I got a little confused by the article. They're saying that this new one will not be able to play games other than what's built in, but the older thing comes with 15 games and has a cartridge slot and can play old Mega Drive games? I could be interested in that (my Mega Drive is barely playable due to the buttons on the controllers being half broken/really unresponsive) but only if I could also get a Sonic 3 cartridge from somewhere.

Isn't this really for people without the budget to afford a modern console or even a PS2? There are how many Mega Drive collections? Virtual Console-type services... There's even yet another bloody Sonic the Hedgehog collection scheduled for a DS release.

And what is it with 'Genesis' (lolmerica) Alex Kidd appearing without fail on every platform? It's like SEGA are rebuking anti-Sonic sentiment by pointing out that mascot mistreatment is part of their tradition.
