Just found out about this new metal festival in the UK

Link

Some of the line up looks damn good, Sonata and Norther. Not much going on at bloodstock this year so i think im gunna go and see what this festival is about :)

Cool, I like Sonata Arctica. Too bad they're the only band I like in that metal category or I'd probably go.

Going to be away while this is going on, which is rather annoying - I would have loved to have seen Norther. Still, I'll be seeing Children of Bodom at Bloodstock so that more than makes up for it.

Ah, the UK is so sorely in need of a metal festival that isn't dictated by popularity on the Kerrang! channel or whatever - something to rival Wacken, or other cool European festivals. Sonata Arctica...fine, they're hardly as lame as, say, Slipknot, but even among power metal bands they're a bit cheesy and lightweight.

I'm all for a good UK festival with with solid death and black metal bands on the bill...but it looks like anything like that is still far away, since we're still ruled by "commercial viability" here (it's not like Sonata Arctica are strapped for cash...). Looks like it's the odd monthly gig at the Camden Underworld for me, still.

I wouldnt say Norther are a cob rip off but they do have quite a similer sound. Not much going on at bloodstock at all this year imho, COB would be cool at the open air one but the indoor bloodstick has nothing, most of the bands that i would want to see, ie hammerfall are playing wacken anyways so its all good.

I'm going for Norther. Not keen on the others.

Same. Ordering my ticket... um, right after I order my Testament ticket.

Some really good festivals going on this year outside of UK. Fury Fest, Metal Camp, etc. Not too keen on this years Wacken line up, though. Last years was a good line up. Just no one around me wants to go.

EDIT:

Death Unlimited really set them apart from Children of Bodom, I think. Some real talent and thought has gone into the majority of that album.

Yeah, that would be a treat, but there are still some decent black and death bands that visit - Nile recently, Marduk soon etc.

Really!? I think the line up for wacken is loads better this year, last year was great! I still got my wrist band on :) But there are so many great bands that i cant wait to see! Sonarta, nightwish, edguy, hammerfall, dragonforce, fintroll, ensiferuim. The list goes on! Going to be ording my tickets in the next cople of days :)

I haven't checked back in a while for updates but last time I looked the only band that took my fancy was Over Kill. Hold on, *checks W.O.A.*

Edit: When the **** were Kreator and Zyklon confirmed. Goddamn! NOW its looking more appealing for me.

I envy you for going last year. You saw Destruction, Anthrax, Motorhead and Death Angel all at one festival. *Jealousy levels rising*
