They don't look nearly as good as the older pics to me.

Oh really? Got a link to some info? The only game I know of that has actually been officially announced is a game called Gears of War(if I remember correctly) but I don't know anything else about it.

Well, I obviously havn't been keeping up with UE3 news as well as I could have been. Any other games been officially announced on it yet?

I can't wait to see what Bioware is doing with it.

Yeah, I thought the same. Some of the faces look weird, as well as some geometry is off in places. Though to be fare they're early shots & they've not been done by Epic. It's like the character models in Vampire: Bloodlines looked pretty bad compared to Half-Life 2.

Well Epic have millions and millions of moolah to throw at their games, and the probably employ some of the best modellers/artists in the industry to produce film-quaility stuff. It wouldn't surprise me if they had an architect working for them.

It will be a while before any games that use the UE3 engine look as good as Unreal 3.

An engine does not beauty make. It's still all about the artists behind the stuff. And to be fair to them they probably are very early renders.

Come on people, early in development, real early. The Source engine MMOPRG Twilight War doesn't look too good yet either, but that will definitely improve a lot. By these screens it seems they don't even have a specular map yet (they look like plastic, especially the faces).

Yeah, MMORPGs ussually have worse quality than say a FPS in graphics, so why does it amaze you?
I think a UE3 FPS will look as good if not pretty much better than the screenshots we've recieved so far.

even some textures look shitty. The truth is that they haven't spent the time Epic did perfecting those models. What they showed us 1 year ago was the best U3 can do (unmodified) with a lot of blood to it.

The truth is that this is an MM game, where you can frequently have many characters on-screen simultaneously. You have to scale accordingly.
