Nice blending, looks good. And to make the blend that I did, I simply used an overlay layer. Did you notice the outline of gordan and alyx also in the concrete?

Fortunatly I have that metal texture AT 1600x1200 so it's easy to switch it now to any size.

I overlayed with a grey color. I'm currently working on my second background, this one is a lot harder.. I don't know if I like it as much though. I will have to let you guys decide when I'm done

I don't think he made the rust or the lable... correct me if I'm wrong here BMWMASTER but all I think he did is to take a high-res photo of some metal, add the HL logo, and add his name and such...

hmm.. I see around 3 layers, one background picture of a rusted metal paint surface (proppably beloning to a car or so). one with a hl2 logo with some grunge brushes used for removing some parts of the logo making it look wared off and another layer with splatters..
and yeah, finding textures is kinda nnoying, I mostly just take the digital camera and shoot some images (have a personal high reso texture folder) containign around 100 foto's (only for me )

photoshop 7 is great. BTW, where did you found the splattter brush? I have one but it only has like 7 splatter brushes on it. (could make my own but i cant do that - ran out off inkt fillings)

hmm.. ah ic, so the paint splatters WAS on the texture

I messed with getting the realistic feel on the Logo for a few minutes and I can't probably duplicate it now.

I had about 10 layers just on the logo...
