Wow, the War on Terrorism sure is making things safer... The British consulate manages to have explosives detonated outside it, on election day! I was actually expecting something to happen today, being the day it is and all.

Mr Bloomberg told reporters that although the British consulate was housed in the building on Third Avenue, it would be wrong to assume that this was the target of the attack.

Other countries have missions there and a number of domestic and international companies have offices in the building, the mayor said.

We've allowed those training camps to move and grow whenever we've moved to stop them... The only difference is that they learn to hide themselves better. Those dictators exist, and where we've got lots of money in them, they go largely ignored...

But yeah, it's entirely possible this is an IRA attack. It's interesting how the IRA or UVF aren't included in the WoT, even though in the past they've killed hundreds...

Jelly makes a point, although my point still stands that this war has made very little impact on terrorism.

How many terrorists have been tried and caught under this new way of law (the patrioct act, imprisonment without trial etc.)...Very few, none even? How much safer are you?

OK: Nothing to get the least bit worked up about here.
It was two grenade-sized explosives that did nothing other than some superficial damage, and apparently weren't even aimed at the British Consulate. Sounds like its just someone being a jerk and trying to make a statement.

I doubt it's the Ira and i doubt it is Al Qaeda. The news reports i have seen are that 2 very small, very improvised devices thrown together and detonated at 3am in the morning outside the British consolate in New York killing and injuring no one...do you really think 2 terrorist organisations that have experience with launching highly devastating and effective attacks against targets around the world would screw up on such an important day as this?
