The Funniest thing ever happened the other day (I take care of the gaming department in NZ's Largest Appliace Retailer), I was talking to the sales rep from Total Interactive (they wholesell the Valve products in NZ) she was telling me all about condition zero.

I asked her when half life 2 is being released, she asked me what I meant, I was all like, I mean Half Life 2, she said "Condition Zero?" I said no, Half Life 2, she had never heard of it before! LMAO!

But then after that I had a look in some other shops, and there is no POS or anything, and only 1 shop is taking pre orders... I really hope it makes it to NZ

good luck.

I think Valve mentioned, the release will be all around the world at the same time.

I really hope so,

I need a fix of good gaming... There hasnt been a great block buster game since Vice City

there are games coming soon next month
Halo
Max payne2
AND the biggest of all ......

hehehe... :D

well afaik nzers get games before us aussies sometimes (gta: vc) .. :/

I have already played halo on the Xbox, Max Payne 2 will rock... but still Half Life 2 will take the cake.

Yes, the reason aussies get their games later... cos they elected a bad government, that decides it needs to rate games differently to the rest of the world.

theres different ratings systems for all over the place. Australias ratings system is in some cases more lenient than the usa. naff.

Hey southparksam,I am in NZ too. Have you been to Gameplanet thats where I pre-ordered.... but they have recently changed their release date to December(was Sept 30th for ages) sometime(whats up with the stores and all the different dates).

yeah dude, I ended up preordering from there... aparrently though, the GP release date is an estimation... cos they dont want to overpromise and underdeliver... however I am gonna call the big guys at Total Interactive on monday and see what they say

Gamesman.co.nz is still taking preorders for both CS:CZ and HL2, and is saying still "Early October".

The problem with us Aussies is we get a small download limit with our superfast cable.. so we are only allowed between 1-3 GB of downloads a month. So basically for alot of people, downloading a 3 gig file off Steam will end up costing a shitload (18c a meg when you go over your limit. Now what is happening for Telstra Cable users is we have a service called GameArena, these guys have a content server up with does not contribute to our download limit.

So basically the only way for Aussies (on Telstra Cable) to download hl2 is if we work out a way to DL Only off the GameArena content server.

Anyway we will see what happens, apparently there is a program that lets you download from specific steam servers only..

Does anyone else around the world have the same problem?

jemook:)

man, i forgot about our stupid censor board and ratings shat. If they delay the game to give it an pg rating or something then heads are gonna roll. Stupid mungle friggen...*grumble grumble* friggen

That's quite interesting. I didn't know that.

Anyone know any details regarding this program. There is a GameArena Server for Steam now aswell.

I'm with unlimited Ozforces ADSL so download limits don't worry me...

Can't see any reason why not...Suppose to be "Worldwide" and NZ isn't so much the "Back of Beyond" anymore!!! (at least with some things)

New Zealander here, I'd have to say it will not reach here by September 30th. When they say 'international' and 'worldwide', usually what they mean is US, Europe and Asia, and maybe Aus :/ NZ gets EVERYTHING atleast 2 weeks to a month late, which bothers me but nothin I can do about it. I mean even LOTR was premiered in England, and it's OUR FREAKIN MOVIE!!!!! >_<

hey southparksam, last time i went to the game store near i live, i told about hl² release date, they said "Oh hl² ? but we already have it take a look" ... ok he gave me blueshift :D i just said goodbye and "adieu"

trust me guys, as soon as it shows up in my store, wether we are allowed to sell it or not, I will let you guys know

I sure as hell won't be d/ling HL2 off Steam. Firstly, I'd rather physically have the game ie a CD and secondly the way Steam works in terms of d/ling HL2 SP is pretty dumb. If you get to the last level it will delete the first level on the assumption that you don't need it anymore.

ATM I can't even download the update off Steam because the file is too friggin big. Way to go!!!!!
Steam just chews up far too much bandwidth for me to use and I am 95% certain that when Gabe says worldwide release he means via Steam. He hasn't specified so I am almost certain Australia and NZ will get HL2 retail at a later date. Maybe by mid October.

Via Steam, but not via stores, that would be impossible now.

I hope its released in australia/nz the same time as the rest of the world, i cant wait any longer for hl2 :\

Never happens for anything else, I doubt things will change. Not only will the retail release be later than 30th of September but we will get it later than everyone else.

Yeah, because NZ doesn't have any online stores of its own, right?... ;)
