For thoe of you who didn't know...

The country i live in (sweden) has finally invented something good..
the thing theyve come up with is a material thats going to turn the computer world upside down... The thing is that the material is so small and leeds power good, that some researchers claims that the computers in 3-5 years will be faster than we could possibly think....

Anyway.. i dont got anymore info about this for the moment and im that i aint got a link to an info site but ill come back later... gotta go to school now...

*blinks*

Yes yes..all very good. Except erm..what is it?

(I'm almost half-guessing it'll be human brains..)

Im sure they have something better in northamerica already, they can grow diamonds that are better then the real thing, don't cost much, and are the future after silicon, pcs will be able to reach much higher speeds, and be able to take much higher temps (and be lower) due to using diamonds instead of silicon.

Only useful thing from Sweden is Lingonberry Juice. Because of that, I worship them.

Computers:

Electronics->Spintronics->Optical->Quantum->Something we can't even imagine.

With, of course, some overlap.:dork:

Spintronics! We wants it, Precious!

Heh.:E

Lingonberry? Well that's one way to word it. Wondered why simply lingon didnt work, as that's what we use? Maybe would have too foreign, Lingon Juice :)

And Brian Damage, what happened to biotronics? :)

Nope, the imported lingon juice from Ikea is called "Lingonberry juice concentrate".

As for the topic, I wonder just how hot the computers will be able to run. We'll eventually get to a point where the hardware will burn and scald if you left the case panel open...

(Or we'll just get to some obscure micron level, like 0.03...)

38 degrees, all they need is liquid cooling and food! :p

Biotronics? Never heard of it. Electronics made of biological tissue? DNA computers? A 1-flower floral clock accurate to .000001 of a second?:E

Woo!:dork:

You may have never heard of it cause I made up the word :)
But the concept is fact. The computer is a synthesized brain... About 2020 (same speedincrease rate as today) we get it to the same power as a brain. Even if we get something magical before that triples computer speed, its still electronics... The goal is the power and flexibility of a brain. Just imagine it... Finally you could kick it and hear it scream in pain for crashing! :p

ISPCC: International Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Computers.:E

But seriously, I'm writing a story with artilects in it.

Err... can you say "Will probably be controlled by nano(elec/spin)tronics". Or quantum effects.;)

Cool.:E

Well... after the third post on this thread, the subject has changed to Lingonberry juice... which tastes awful (but its from my country :p).

well, clockless computer will be nice..... :)

however, researchs somewhere came up have carbon-nanotubes made, and within 10 years, they'll be able to make computer chips/circuits out of them....

hehe... yes we did.. They guy who invented (mixed it together) has a very famous kind of science show every year =)
maybe youve heard of it? it called "the nobel Night" where they give different people a price called "the nobel price"...
So, ever heard of it?

=)
