I'm writting this fast so pardon me for grammatical errors and poor sentence
composition.
I'm trying to learn how to map for HL2 and i ran across this forum. This forum
seem'd kinda nice for noobs so i joined to ask some quick questions.
1. I bought HL2 so i could learn mapping offline. When i try and load the game
it makes me connect to steam- Is halflife 2 an internet only game? and if its
not how do i load it everytime without connecting to the internet?
2. I know people show up on this forum from time to time and say something
to the effect of mappings cool i wanna do it- how? and then links are given
to sites were you can learn. Thats cool- my questions different. Could
someone please provide me with a Complete List of things i need for mapping?
like (1.) Hl2, (2.) Hammer map editor- (thats all i know) are there any
programs
i'm missing before i start? as i said before a short complete list is Most
appricated.
3. Is there anywere off the top of your mind there is a site with tuts that
cover complete noob mess ups? like stretching textures on walls crapped out
just, typical problems noobs encounter that the tuts on the site would help
with?
Thats it question wise. If your wondering why i came here and all that I
dont much enjoy the net anymore. So i just wanted to pick up a game with
realistic City like levels and just map out my local area and my mall. Throw
down some zombies and maybe at a later date learn to model and make my
friends and the real weapons we have so we can all game togeather. If my
stuff turned out halfway decent and people werent falling through the floor
of course i'd release to the public so everyone could enjoy/take my textures
models/ whatever for general use.
