I personally never really understood the appeal of this kind of game.

Thought I'd make a poll. If you like it, please make a comment on other games you like. (Like if you also enjoy f1 games, GTA etc)

I've always been a NFS fan. I really liked Porshe Unleashed, and I actually bought NFS II like 8 years ago.

So I definatelly wanna give this a try.

I just love the word "meh", to me it really looks ands sounds just like what it means. Can anyone enlighten me on the etymology of it?

I actually look forward to playing NFS underground.
I recently got a network adaptor for my ps2 and i must say it's pretty good from where i'm sitting.
Can't wait to play that dragrace bit against a couple others. Good times indeed.

Also, if you play the ps2 version online, you might run into some PC players as well.
And vice versa ofcourse.

Hey, NFS seems to have quite dedicated followers here! Can anyone explain how you play it? Is like a story (~GTA) or is it about customizing your car for a specific circuit? Are there even circuits, or can you take any route you choose while driving (in a city setting)?

My cousin has it on his PS2 and we've been playing it. I guess it's pretty good, it just seems like with each new NFS they make it more and more "arcadey".

I mean, the visual apsect is great. Awesome graphics, large amount of spoilers, hoods, decals, blah blah blah. You can also buy some nitrous kits, suspension upgrades, etc.

The funny thing is that they call this a game for tuners and there is no tuning involved haha. I want to mess with gear ratios, boost settings, spring rates, & brake balance.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the whole thing just feels a little superficial. Still fun though. :cheers:

Huh, no tuning? I thought that was part of the idea? I'm more confused than ever. What is this game actually about then?

Edit: But, you can in fact buy better engines, better brakes, better suspension etc, depending on how much you've earned in previous races?

i think thats my problem with the NFS series(i legitamatly own several NFS games)

after playing GT3 ..the NFS series just does not seem that great. the physics suck and dont feel real at all.

Man I played the crap outta GT3 (and I don't even have a ps2 haha, just bothered my cousin all the time).

For me, realism makes a great racing game. Everyone likes something different though.

I prayed to Jesus to get old American muscle back into the GT series.

thats the thing....GT is more realistic. NFS is more arcade stlye.

i like racing game that are balanced.. GT is not a hardcore racing sim but it has planty of aspects of a good racing sim. NFS looks pretty but just doesnt do the real cars justice when you drive them.

yeah, buut realism isn't always fun. If I want realism I'll just go drive my car really fast and try not to crash. hell, going 200 mph, hitting a peble would make you flip. its not very fun I think, I want less realistic things.

You're refering to GTA 3 (Grand Theft Auto 3)

Everybody else is talking about GT(3) (Grand Tourismo) which is strictly a racing game, no gun violence involved.

Bleh to this game, I almost died when I heard that horrible hip-hop song at the beginning, thanks god you can turn it off. In fact, I turned off all shitty rap songs, where is my trance? I mean come on, Need For Speed always had great music, but now I need to listen to MTV punk garbage, who can't even sing like punks. How do they expect me to drive with such horrible music? Oh yeah, it's hip now, like it's hip to talk like you were born with Down syndrome. Oh well, whatever, I can get past that if driving was good.

But ha, where is car damage? Are all cars made from titanium in this game? Or rear mirror? Yeah, drivers are so cool in this game; they don't even need rear mirror. Oh, I also can't even get inside of car, how the heck should I drive when I can't see my steering wheel? Talk about immersion. Also, to unlock different cars or upgrade parts, I need to have these annoying stickers, neon lights and other crap. It sure makes my car go faster. But stickers are not that big of the problem, if I could do custom, I would put swastika right there, on my car, to show how cool I am.

And I didn’t even mention collection of maps. Too bad you drive in the same freaking city OVER and OVER again. Horrible, just horrible.

I was a total GT3 junkie....spent way too many hours on it. Loved the customization and the feeling that those cars really were MINE, and had my own signatures in their design. The racing was also exceptional and was a blast to play.
I'm into NFSU for most of the same reasons. I can create a car thats specifically mine, and looks different from everyone elses. The actual racing is arcade, so any comparisons to GT3 are shortsighted idiocy, and have to stop. But it is fun getting to play with nitrous and weaving in an out of shortcuts. Not to mention theres actually four modes of play AND online play for variety.
Its a good game, provided you dont fly off the handle into an insane rage at the mere sight of a tuner car.

won't buy it, won't even bother to look at it, since i hate ricers. even if it's only a game.

and in reality:
what good are 300-400 or 1300 hp (shkytline) if you can't use em. if you really need 5 more inches of penis, then get a porsche, ferrari, lamborghini or something like that is ok, but a ricer?

is that really what they made of nsf? that must suck, indeed. nfs: hotpursuit - unleashed were 3 cool nsfs but the latest: hp2 and ug aren't worth my money. i wan't some exclusive cars and some realistic physics and damage models, not an arcade racer with cars i have to see everyday.
