Thats a trojan.
And the way you worded, it looked like you planned a deliberate attack on this community. Die.
Banned.
Closed.

Is there anyproblem with installing it to a different name (i didnt give my steam account, just a random name) and then putting the maps it extracts there into the real map folder?

Erm.. why? What quality maps could possibly come from someone who released a Trojan to the community?

It requires you to input your Steam login. If you want, go search for it, but be wary...

I know what it is, that's what I'm saying.. If the man released a Trojan to the community, what good maps could possibly lie inside?
That's like when cops set up a sting operation with a drug dealer, he doesn't say "Oh damn you got me, but lemme see those drugs".

Hey DreadLord, did you try the map pack? kmack did you get any virus? I don't think so because there are no viruses nor trojans nor any hacks in this great map pack. Norton didn't detect any known viruses, and the firewall didn't detect any attemps to send data on the net and ad-aware didn't detect any registry modifications.

Seriously guys, why do you think there is a virus in this pack? A textbox with a "Steam Username" label?! The purpose of this is only to extract the files to the right folder.

Anyway, I just think MC_RAT doesn't deserve all this, he made a great map pack and a very good program to simplify the installation and he got a ban...

But the thing is you don't need the steam login for installing things to the right directory, there is a registery key that was added about 2 months ago eliminating the need.

The maps are fine, no viruses, but it asks for your Steam login, i think that is simply so it can install directly to the map folder, but it is suspicious, I dont know what they could do with your login name but better safe that sorry, and check out my sleek and sexy new sig

STEAL THE PERSONS ACCOUNT MAYBE?!?!!? Sometimes people like you amaze me of not thinking of things like this.....bliink was right, DIE!

Yea! He's a master hacker! Only with the Steam username he can steal any account! Beware, he knows your hl2.net nickname, he may infiltrate your account and read your PMs! What? A password? Oh someone just informed me that you need a username AND a password to log in to Steam...

I'm sorry for this sarcasm, I just think MC_Rat did something good for the community and put alot of efforts in that map pack but has been banned... Maybe an admin can light this whole thing up.

Okay so he has a Steam USERNAME, that's all it asks for, now please in your infinite wisdom explain the horrors he can do with a name that anyone could probably guess

So disturbed, please elaborate on this hacking scheme of yours. How as well does he get the username after you enter it? What can oyu do with someones username? Is it not possible he has that just to install to the right directory?

Thanks for your input though.

Look, he posted a link to a file that contained an .exe that asked for steam details.
If there was an honest behaviour behind it (somehow) then Munro will get an email explaining it, and he will be unbanned.
But you dont go and post links to executables asking for steam details considering that there are at least 2 well known trojans that do it.

I'll email the user and clarify

Until then, theres no need to discuss the matter
