I can think of two reasons

1. Bad connection, I think we all have seen one or two "Valve Ban 56k please!!!1111!!oneoneone" threads.
2. Bots don't hack, spam the mic/chat, or swear like a salior.

Some times I too feel like not bothering to wade through the crap you find in online play, and long for bots to get a CS:S fix. We can only wait for bot if and when valve feels like adding them.

Dont the other people read, lots of people are new to CS and CS:S because it came with HL2. Some time offline with a few bots set on hard teaches you a lot, i loved playing 32 player UT2003 with the bots. Good bots are worth playing, and it's fun, not all of us have the $ to play on the net all the time.

I hope VALVe will still give us some bots and i'm happy to wate for the bots if they will be good ;0)

I agree, bring on ze bots. For example, if you only have 4 people together it's an arse to try and all get on a server and get a decent ping through the one connection, so all get on one team, put about 16 bots on the lowest difficulty on the other team and marvel at how f*king 1337 we all are.

Find me 16 noobs who will oblige, and I'll agree that bots aren't important.

Its nice to have bots to train against. For CS I had the akimbots or whatever they are called and I used to train with them for hours, and due to their aimbotastic skills, I got better and better, and I think it paid off in css.

What are you talking about? bots are fun! Just try this and you'll see what I mean:
1. open cs:cz
2. start a new server. set the bot number to 31, set them to all join ct's, and set them all on easy.
3. join the terrorist force.
4. buy an aoutosniper :naughty:

Its the year 2004. Valve should be ashamed of themselves for not including bots in CSS and HL2DM.
It's just so incredibly unprofessional and uncool of them. :frown:
Devs of Unreal, UT and UT2kx had bots since Unreal1, ffs.

I wanted bots too. And to those people who say "everyone should have broadband now". Well LOTS of people still have dialup. Ever notice how aol, earthlink, netzero, peoplepc all advertise their dialup on TV still? Yea, LOTS of people still have dialup if they are still advertising it.

bots are good to have lets say you have a server that has a max 32 or so people...well what happens when it's almost empty? nobody wants to play when it's empty, so they won't join, and because they won't, others won't...but if we have bots... lets say the server runs commands to add bots to keep at least 4-6 active "players" in the game, then people might join, even if empty can use the bots as warm up then others will see server filling up and join...

People want BOTS for:

1- training / practice
2- people with dialup


I have no other choice but dialup (bad dialup, btw) due to where I live. I'd like bots so I can PLAY CSS instead of just running around the maps by myself.

So .. all you guys who start yelling "why do you want bots when online is a click away!!!" ... it is because some people have NO OTHER choice than to play against bot because of crappy dialup. Of COURSE i'd rather play online ... but it would just be laggy and i'd get screamed at.

so, please, please ... give us some bots. thx. . . .

for the people who say that Valve didn't involve bots in CSS your idiots,there are bots built into CSS they just dont work.So pretty much for people like me who have dial up we still dont have bots until the people at Valve get off their asses and fix the problem.

It's a shame that people using the cracked version get bots and legit hl2 and css owners get nothing. This is exactly why I downloaded the cracked version. Flame if you want, but I paid for a hl2 silver package and I've been waiting for valve to add bots to cs:s, But valve doesn't reward those who wait.
I'll be using the cracked version until valve decides to give customers what they paid for. I'm sure im not the only legit css owner who downloaded the cracked version for bots. It's almost like valve asks for their games to be cracked. If they wont give people what they want, people will make what they want... :cheers:

What the hell would you want to play bots for, valve are right to dismiss sad pathetic people like you and just concentrate on tweaking on-line play for all the l337 players like me!

Joking aside i would rather Valve concentrate on sorting out the show stopping bugs with the source engine rather than make bots. I mean bots like? Who cares. If i had no connection the thought of playing bots would still be a turn off, i would just play HL2 again.

I usually lug all my gear over to a mates house with 4 other people, and CSS just isnt that great with 5 players. Bots would make this alot more fun.

So for the time being we stick to BF1942/Nam.

There's a little known button called "Edit". Push it when you want to add something like that.

As for Dial up and broadband, I totally Agree. I'm on Broadband 1mbs, but I still sympathise with you poor fellows and how the stupid ISP's don't set it up.

The warez version Bots suck, by the way. VALVe also hasn't actually included any bots. I guess they're waiting 'till they have more models, so it'll be more like CZ ones where they have their own preferances. So please, don't be annoyed, wait it out. They'll be ace.

I have DSl and regardless of connection problems and lag issues its playing against really imature idiots that hink they are better than everyone else. Plus i'm more of a casul gamer and to have bots gives some game time that is quite fun and entertaining for a couple of hours. What's wrong with that?

Well bots are a good escape from the pressures of online. Screw up there and you get flamed as a noob. If you die you have to wait for the round to end unlike bots where you just type bot_kill.

Bots are also a good escape from online servers with:
*Noobs
*Lamers
*Hackers
*Insanely good players who can headshot you with an AK47 from the other side of the map
*People who enjoy shooting through walls when they see you go behind them
*AWP'ers (The lamest of all lame)

Also good to crank bots to an inhuman level and train against them with your clan. (Testing tactics and what-not)

I think that Dodo is the only one i've seen advertising Dial-Up on TV. With the new $40/month TPG 1.5mbps Unlimited* (20gb then shaped to 64k) plan broadband is cheap as hell for the masses. There is no longer any excuse to stay with dial-up or get it to start with.
