I searched this forum for a few hours yesterday, but couldnt find an answer.
I am not able to get the crosshair on my screen; i tried the console commands, but no luck.

Should the lettertypes "halflife2.ttf" and "hl2cross.ttf" be installed in windows? I did install them yesterday, but this also did not help.

Im running HL2 on three monitors (awesome....) on a resolution of 3072*768, maybe that can be a factor?

I hope ANYONE can help me out here!!

here it is! I'm using this setup for FlightSim. THe most left monitor is connected to a seprate computer. For HL2 I use the tree monitors (19") next to each other. The monitor at the bottom is a 23"widescreen.

Wow um.. thats pretty different to most forum members... o_O

I'm going to search your problem on Steam Support.

Okay, um.. would verifying work?

Other members will help...

that would be great! I m sure there must be an answer there, but I couldnt find it there. For a newbee as I am on HL2, I found the site not to be very userfriendly, but again: newbee...:cheese:

Holy mackerel batman, I must say that is an incredible set-up you have there, I've not seen anything like that before.

Anyway, the only things I can think of is that the on screen icons that appear are all in that one file in the Steam directory somewhere and yours may be missing. Have you tried verifying your Half-life 2 game content files. Right click HL2 on your 'my games' list, go to properties then on one of the tabs there is a 'verify integrity of game cache' button. Do eet!

Also, I can't recall but there isn't a standard 'turn-off x-hair' option in the options menu is there? I do know there is a command you can put into the developers console to turn it on/off though. You also try enabling the console (options, keyboard, advanced, developers console) then pressing ' (button below Esc) to open it and put in "crosshair 1" (I assume it could be set to 0 currently).

That's all I can think of currently D:

Do you have a Q for a crosshair by any chance? I've seen people with that problem once they installed the fonts into Windows. Remove it from Windows to be sure anyway, it can sometimes cause problems. If all else fails, delete the resource folder (contains your crosshairs) and Steam will redownload them.

`Thnx; I checked the game files, but I got no errors, so I assume that that's ok then. Restarted the game, but still no crosshair..:o
Another weared problem: I can get the console on my screen vie the "~`, but as soon as i press any key, it disappears..!

Q for a crosshair :bonce: I don't understand...

are you sure its just not really really dim... my dad was playing half life 2 on my brothers system and he didnt even realize there was a cross hair because it was so bright in the part he was playing and the cross hair was, for some reason, really dim and barely noticeable. Also, do you see the rest of the hud IE: hp, ammo, the little weapons menu on the top when picking weapons?

You see a crosshair right from the beginning.

Yeah, even before you get the suit it's only 5 pixels in the middle of the screen. There's an option in the options menu to enable quick info which make it much more visible (two curves), but that's once you get the suit only.
