No Damage Run - Halflife, Opposing Force, Blue Shift & HL2

Ok, Hi.

I have looked around on the subject and cannot find any info - is it possible for No Damage Runs on all of the Halflife games??? (is possible for HL2)

If so, I would like a little help in Halflife at the cold area - after the generator room and the cage where you can aquire the crossbow thing.

I can get through only loosing 3 points of my HEV suit - compromising my No Damage Run.



If this thread works, I may ask for help on the others / be able to give help to others.

I think that cold room is going to get the best of you everytime...but that's just my opinion... \=

Well, that's a good idea in a place warmer and nicer than the UK.

Anyway, I was bored - started doing it on HL2 up until Nova Prospect when the spear I was using created a flaw and screwed it up.

So I started one on HL - got to the freezer searched around and couldn't find ANY INFO - hence this page!

And by the looks of it, NO-ONE has completed HL, OP, BS & HL2 taking no damage at all.

That's a challenge!

hey, there is an "&" in HL, OP,BS & HL2 - meaning no-one has completed all 4 with a no damage run!

Anyway, I want a responce saying it can be done - for tips on how I can do it!
 
Ask kelerain (The guy that did it on HL2) for tips :p
Maybe he has an e-mail address you can contact, I dunno
 
I could probably beat Blue Shift with no damage and in under 30 minutes or so :p
 
yeah, completed Blue Shift with no damage - a little longer than 30 mins though - you have to eliminate everything or you aren't doing it properly!!

Almost finished Opposing Force with no damage as well.

Still stuck at the freezer though!!!

How much armor do you have when you get your HEV suit?

One theory I have is that if you start with 0 HEV armor, and go through the whole game up till that point without charging it at all, once you reach the freezer section there will be nothing left to zap away. Your armor will remain at 0 and you won't lose anything (unless it starts taking away your health :P ).

Technically this would qualify as a no damage run since you aren't losing anything.

If this doesn't work, then I'm afraid that a no damage run of Half-Life may very well be impossible...
 
Alright, I've double-checked. You do start with 0 HEV armor when you get your suit.

My theory remains possible! :D
 
Ok, before it is mentioned, I do no that once you run out of HEV power, you loose health.

But if you have no power all the way through, do you loose it??

I doubt it makes a difference, unless there's a glitch to it.

I guess that section IS impossible. Oh well, almost had it. :(
 
There might be a way, somehow. See if the cold damage still exists up near the cieling of the room. I'm pretty sure the cold damage area is defined by a brush based entity. If it's not extended all the way up to the ceiling, (because a player isn't usually way up there, crouched too even for being as far away from the ground as possible) then it might be possible using some way to get up there.

Or you could somehow skip that level entirely, look around everywhere.
 
Speed runners generally don't take any damage unless from grenade jumps or someothing.
 
You can't do it with HL1...its impossible because you have to go through that freezer room...the only way to bypass it would be to use god or noclip, both are cheats that would compromise your run.

Like that one previous poster said, it makes no difference. Plus, even if it did work, it'd still technically be "cheating."
 
You can still take damage even if you have armor, I don't get what everybody's arguing about...

It's not really arguing, we are discussing the fact that all other halflife's can be completed taking no damage & we are trying to determin if it is possible on Halflife it's self!
 
Email valve, see if they can suggest anything.
Maybe they'll make a patch making it possible ;)
 
I e-mailed Gabe once in the pre-HL2 days about some weird rumor. I forget what it was, but he responded with "Hogwash" or something like that. <3 Gabe.

Don't know, if the soldiers were easily dispatched by one shotgun blast, like it is possible in HL2, then maybe. But the grunts in HL1 are much more tougher than those in HL2
 
Just out of interest, while i sit here waiting for steam!!!

Has anyone tried a no damage run on Halflife 2: Episode 1??
