A question popped in my head and i wondered if you guys could solve it, no i'm not going to rant on about how GMAN is the leader of an alien race or any BS. My question is that i want to know why the Gman put both Gordon and Shepherd in stasis, but completely ignored calhoun in the original half life? I mean it's pretty clear when Calhoun tries to lower the bridge in blue shift and Gman just skates past, not even looking at him, did he not see any potential in Barney or what?

Barney, as awesome as they made him in HL2, didn't best insurmountable odds the way Freeman did (or Shephard, if you count his lame boss battle). Guessing he was barely a blip on his radar.

I'm pretty sure he was being monitored - it's just that he was clever enough to escape. At the end of Blue Shift there's the whole SUBJECT/STATUS thing, which says he's "Out Of Range"

Huh, I had never before interpreted those SUBJECT messages as being the G-Man and his "employers" monitoring, but it makes sense. Fair enough. Sure there's the elephant in the room of how someone so powerful is unable to continue tracking Barney and the other survivors, but ... eh. It says they got out of range. Who am I to argue?

Yep, that said we have no idea how huge Black Mesa is, so the fact that he's "outside" could mean he's 50 ks away. Also maybe the Gman was a bit more preoccupied with re-arming a nuclear device and, you know, aliens ****ing everywhere

Speaking of which, i sure hope they didn't off him at the disappearance at the end of ep1 D:

I imagine "out of range" is more of "he won't be interfering with what's going on in Black Mesa so I can safely ignore him now" rather than "I no longer have any power here".
