I'm getting a "No disc inserted" Error whenever I try to run any of these games. I've reinstalled multiple times and I've unlocked everything and with through Verification process.

Do you think there is a problem with my DVD? It seems to install fine.

CD here, i am getting that same message, either that or another prob where the game starts to load from the valve screen then quits on me, guys out there please respond in anyway, we need help and will appreciate any efforts, thankyou.

My DVD runs fine some of the time, but other times I cant even see the disc in my DVD drive. It doesn't make any sense...

I have the same problem with the cd. it runs sometimes, and othertimes it just quits on me. WTF!?

Disc not being read!

This has happened to me once so far but it's a bit worrying as there's been quite a few posts about this-poss substandard discs?

Anyway why does the disc need to be in there? Valve/Steam has the most intrusive, time wasting, frustrating and possibly effective (only time will tell) piracy prevention sytem going. Why the hell do you still need to keep your disc in there if people who have downloaded via Steam don't need one. Crazy!!

The game is great though, aside from the occasional audio skipping thing, and has just been tarnished by these other issues.

Im glad you are enjoying this friggin game, ive had 20 minutes and now nothing, i have deleted game files and am now on the long painstaking over drawn out process of re updating HL2, f*ck 130 minutes on broadband, disgracefull, and yes why the hell do we need the disk in there, Valve dictates when you get to play, how long its gonna make you wait, and "if" it will goddam let you..............if they dont bring a fix out for all these probs quickly their reputation is going to be plain sh*t, infact i already made my mind up on that one....................what a ballsup..........good one guys.

Disabling DLA did the trick for me ...works like a charm now....Awesome Game! Thanks to NiteX in another post for the tip!

Same problem here - I registered and played HL2 for an hour the other day - now steam is looking for confirmation and I'm getting a 'no disc error' - The DVD is spotless - ?!?!?!

COMEON VALVE / Vivendi !

I've been waiting an age to play and a serious bug like this slips through the cracks

Restarted my system, buffed the disc and she worked!

I found that this game hates CD/DVD combo burners. I tryed out a DVD-ROM and it works perfectly fine, but it seems it will not work in any kind of DVD burner. I think Valve put just a little too much effort into the anti-piracy thing. I dont blame them though. I'm thinking about going by a $40 DVD reader so I cant return my friends DVD-ROM I am borrowing. Because who knows when Valve will create a no cd patch.
