No Flame effects in EP2

I just started playing HL2 Ep2, after finishing the previous episodes, and as the title suggests I don't see any fire or flame effects, for example when a barrel is shot at, no flames around it, and when I shoot at a gaz leak no fire or flames or even flamed zombies whatsoever.

Here are my specs:

Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93 GHZ.
ATI HD 4670 1GB ddr3.
2 GB ddr2 rams.
Windows XP pro sp3 (with all the latest patches).
250 GB hdd.

The Orange Box is also updated. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Odd. First thing to do is to verify your Episode 2 files. Right click 'Episode 2' in your my games list, properties, files tab, verify integrity of game cache. Let Steam remove any problems.

That should fix the issue. If not, look into your graphics card drivers and ensure they are all updated and working fine.

Sounds like your game files are buggy. Delete the GCF files from your "steamapps" directory and reinstall.

If that doesn't work - right click the "Half Life 2: Episode 2" if your steam list, go to Properties and then to "Set Launch Options" and type "-dxlevel 90"
