no internet connection - can i still run the game?

i have no internet connection on my computer. i installed hl2 (all 5 cds) and when i try and run it, it asks me to log onto steam, register, and the such, which i cant do - no internet connection. will i have to wait a month to play the game, til i return to school?

please, someone. tell me that i dont have to wait...

best bet i'd say is to get a free trial from AOL or somethin and cancel after you've registered.

the problem is that i dont have a modem, just a network card for when im at school... damn the man and his "technology"!!

if u read the system requirnments it sais internet connection required.

take your computer, to wherever you are right now, validate hl2, than put hl2 into offline mode, and than take it home agian.

It's illegal and ill probably get you banned from steam.

You sure a next door neigbour wont just let you use their connection or something?

Make sure if you do get a connection somewhere, which I'm sure you will, you have to stay on the game for at least 45 mins to an hour the first time so Steam can validate hl2 to play in offline mode, otherwise it will say "Offline mode is not yet ready" or some bullcrap like that. Take it from me, who suffered three days of trying to figure out how to get offline mode to work when hl2 first came out and no one knew what the heck to do.

Hmm... lol... I can play HL2 without internet connection. I dunno why though...
