Just bought the Half-Life2 package and was wondering if there is any way loading and plying HL2 on a computer without an internet connection?

No there isn't. It says right there on the box that it's a requirement.

You're posting on the internet, not too much trouble is it?

It needs to connect to register the game etc and it will probably update your games. You can right click on the game in the Steam list not to update automatically. And you can run it in offline mode after that.

i think ea or whoever designs the box needs to cleary state on the front of the box that an interent connection is required.

You'll have to go on the internet at least once every time you install a game on Steam. It's just the way it is.

What's with this wave of utter noobish threads lately?
No offence, Bethecat.

It does say that on the box under system requirements that an Internet connection is absolutely required, however when i got it I assumed it was only needed for registration and online play much like a lot of other games are. When i popped the game in and found out i had to have steam i was pretty upset about the whole thing, i thought it was gay that you couldn't just install the game and play it. Now i think its great though, updates are great, the management of the games is great, i wish there was a way to put all of my game in steam, every one really should use it... if steam is a patented in a way that no other company can sell downloadable game over the net unless its through steam... valve will make big bank...
