No microphone volume since HL2...worked 1.6! HELP!

Yeah for some stupid reason I can no longer ramble and rave at other players since installing HL2/CS:source. I go to voice tweak and it keeps coming up "can't find mic volume". I go to control panel and do a test and it is working fine. And ofcourse I go to keyboard button config and change to a few diff keys but I still cant get it to work! It's a logitech stereo mic/headphone jobby! And ofcourse has no drivers because logitech I now realise are a bunch of slack jawed numb arses!

So I'm at a loss. Not even 1.6 will let me speak anymore. I get no mic icon up on screen even when pressing selected voice communication button! Help me, I like talking hahaha!
