works fine for me but i had this exact same problem a while back except ALL flash apps wouldn't throw any sound out. turns out i had some very hard to find spyware so i got super anti-spyware (http://www.superantispyware.com/) and let it RIP on my system and it sorted it out

He may be talking about how YouTube is muted videos if the sound is copyrighted.

I've just about managed to get onto YouTube at the moment but it's taking a bloody long time to fully load.

I know someone who had the opposite problem - sound in youtube vids, but nothing else. Sounds like a codec problem maybe...?
