no sound =s

I thought i should put this in hardware or whatever but.. figured I would put it in here =\ anyway... I can hear everything in counter strike accept the sound effects.. which means I cant hear much I guess lol.. I can hear music when I join servers etc but I cant hear shooting/walking/birds and shit like that. I have no idea what is going on.. the options and everything is on and unmuted so it should be working.. seeing how the music works in css and nothing else has got me confused..

exactly.. accept sometimes when you enter a server it plays a quick music clip right? well I can hear that but no sound effects.

I was going to suggest deleting your CSS folder and let the .gcf replace it, but I am worried something might go wrong.

Mess around with the speaker settings in the game options. Sometimes my CSS will just stop playing sounds and all I do is change around the speaker settings and it comes back. I have to set mine at "4 speakers" in order to get the sound to work properly.....even though I use headphones

Try this:

Go to start --> control panel --> sound speech and audio devices --> sounds and audio devices --> under speaker settings click advanced --> performance. Then ajust the sliders down 1 notch each. If that does not work try to lower them all the way. If not try only 1 lowered 1 notch. Hope that helps!
