I can see it both ways, its just a matter of what you want to make of it.

I think the point of mentioning that the server patch was released late last night was to show that just because normal business hours or long gone doesn't mean that Valve is not still working on getting steam out tonight. You gotta figure that at 11pm PST, it is 2am EST so you've just knocked out a boat load of people hammering your site.

So they still got plenty of time.

Meh, actually as we get closer to the 30th I believe the release date more and more. If they were cutting it close they probably would've said something.

I mean half life 1 was delayed for an extra year but its not like they waited until release day and then said it.

And it was delayed because they decided to scrap it and start again. Which is very unlikely to happen with Half-Life 2.
