No Textures

I have a problem with the textures on "active" 3d objects. All stationary objects, such as buildings, trees, and crates all have perfect textures. My problem is that any 3d object that is dynamic, such as npcs/enemies, moving objects and vehicles, all have no textures. They simply appear black, no shading, no defined polygons, just black. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 with DirectX 9 installed and all the current drivers. Any advice or solutions?

Could you post a screen-shot? Is your copy of Half-Life 2 fully updated?

*Edit: And welcome to the forums.

Heres a couple of shots from the opening scenes. As you can see, its only the actionable objects.

I see what you mean. Now, is your Half-Life 2 updated? Have you verified the files through Steam?

And, just checking, do you have Steam?

Yes I have steam, and it is indeed updated. I've been looking everywhere for a solution to this. Updated windows, updated steam, updated hl2, updated video drivers. Nothing seems to help. I even played the game for about 30 minutes last night just because it runs so good, its just hard to interact with some of the objects simply because they have no texture. I have also verified all of the files and changed the username folder name just like the steam faq suggests. No dice.

What are the rest of your specs?

Lemme look around the interwebs for ya, does this happen in any other games?

Edit: Are you running windows xp sp2?

I'm running pentium 4 2.4Ghz with 512MB RAM, windows xp home 5.1 (non sp2), Its gotta be a video card/software issue because I dont have this problem in any other games and hl2 runs perfectly smooth with no lagging with moderate resolution/graphics settings.

Well, id install Service Pack 2...if it still does it you narrowed it down to a software problem in which I would post your problem on the steam forums.

thanks I'll look into it, I sent an email to valve, so hopefully they can assist me.
