More cool space news, a dna library could be possibly built on the moon (big cheesey thing in the sky) in case of a disaster on Earth which wipes most of the stuff out we have.

How a lowly peasant with only a bicycle is meant to get to the moon after such a disaster seems to be a detail he's missed out....

Maybe I'm weird, but I honestly, and fervently hope that mankind never leaves this rock and contaminates the rest of the galaxy.

[edit] okay, that was harsh, but true. I read that a bit ago and it is cool.... I just dislike humans in general.

I couldn't agree with you more.

Well before we even think about the rest of the galaxy we probably have a few hundred more years to explore our own solar system first. So hopefully by the time we make it to any other stars we are a bit more mature as a race.

You can't be serious?

We were cavemen ten thousand years ago, we are cavemen now and we are going to be cavemen in all eternity, until natural selection kicks in and wipes us out.

Well, Neutrino, I agree there. I think we need to explore what we call home, and find out how to live on THIS planet before we start thinking about the others.

Bah... natural selection takes too long. I'm hoping for a large impact event, or hundreds of volcanoes erupting at once. You know... something that will be cool for a few minutes, then do the job real fast. :)

Isn't that really natural selection after all? ;)

Well there is a super volcano under Yellowstone Park that could do a lot of the job on its own

Perhaps in the cosmic scheme of things, but as most people understand it, probably not. I like to think the planet has some wonderful new trick up its sleeves. :) Like a virus that weakens your immune system, and is spread through sexual intercourse, so humans don't propagate so fast. Hmmmmm.... I can dream.

Yellowstone IS a volcano. BEEEEEEG volcano. :) That would work!

[edit] I suppose "Caldera" would be the proper word.

might be nice to just annihilate the stupids but in general people are ok.

i know that, i was thinking they could come to me to decide.

Well, right now humans is stupid.
I mean, we're a terrible race.
There is some good ones, but not enough.
We're destroying our planet, and my bet is that in the next ~500 years we would have killed ourself.
But heck, I don't care.

The universe are infinite, there is other life just like us out there.
I have alot of wierd things that I'm doing research on, but I would like to keep that to myself until it's done.

I don't know about Sweden but over here we live in things called Houses .

We've evolved a lot you pessimistic buggers. genocide, in the most parts of the Western world is condemned. The truth is the the lower we can go is the same lower we were 10 000 years ago, but the higher we can go is way higher than what we could do 10 000 years ago.

Heck, there not building much else, may as well put a big pile of dna there... o_O

A moon base eh...heh, if we do get almost wiped out and humanity devolves a bit technology wise. Then in a thousand years when we reach 60's style tech again, they can go to the moon and discover the base. :O Its like a sci fi story come true...

As for wiping out the human race. I agree, but all at once is too difficult. Start small, one person at a time and then work up through villages, cities and countries. You need to practice though, so I would suggest starting on yourself ;)

I think some people need a hug. :D
I do love how so many people construe a few "growing pains" during a technological adolescence as the total and complete failure of mankind. I say we just leave all the pessimists earthside. :)

How do you know we didn't do that 10,000 years ago already :).

Sounds interesting, but for goodness sake, be a little more optimistic you idiots.

It's a good plan, this moon-based DNA bank. I'd like to see us getting to the level of maturity and technology seen in Star Trek, although I expect it'll end up more like Star Wars, with millenia of peace shattered by some power hingry maniac. The Force would be cool too :p

Yeah, maybe we did. Although so far we haven't seen any sign of it.

As for being optimistic. I agree, and hopefully those people will take my advice ;)

Reminds me of Titan AE... there was a big spaceship that had every single species from earth in a DNA bank incase it got destroyed, and the whole cartoon was about them trying to find it. earth gets destroyed, too.. in much a way like in the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy :D

Only in Titan AE, arent the creatures made from energy or something. I haven't seen it, but...do they destroy Earth with giant yellow space "bulldozers" to make way of an hyperspace bypass, because if they don't...well...its just not Hitchhikers :p

Titan AE is very cool, I have the DVD :D

So basically the moon will be a Boot Disk to the earth?

And I'll bet that we'll install Win on it, and we're gone again.

HEY! :D

Haha...After reading The Hitckhikers Guide to the Galaxy, you don't know how funny that is :D
