I'm not sure if its Windows 7, my new HD monitor that's running on an VGA cable, or if the videos always had it, but I've noticed that when looking through old videos I have (recorded on a camera), there's a LOT of noise grain, especially when the videos are shot in dimly lit areas. I never noticed this issue before, and on my old monitor I think I would've noticed this. Is it because my new monitor is so much bigger, that when it stretches across the screen the noise becomes more visible? Just looking for some insight, it's not too big a deal.:borg:

Try playing the movie in the resolution it was recorded in, and it should look great, albeit in a tiny little window.

Depending on the media player you use, you can have features to reduce the grain, or to otherwise filter or modify the image.

I tend to use Gom Media player because it supports almost as many video formats as VLC and has lots of features that I rely on. One feature you'll find in the video preferences is to improve the quality of the video on any video below a certain resolution (you specify). So if you just wanted to put the effect on standard definition video (or lower), you can set it to do so, without interfering with higher quality video.

Virus you've basically become my new ASUS. I think the noise is directly related to the camera though. I noticed in all the videos, only a certain time frame had noise-grain issues, and it was when I had a specific camera. I will look into this Gom Media Player though, thanks!

Playing at the resolution of the video and not expanding it to the higher res of your monitor will make it look sharper since it isn't stretched and extra pixels in there as filler.
But also if your old monitor was a CRT (big bulky thing) then the colors are not going to be quite up to par going to LCD.
1) TN panels which are the most common LCD don't have full color (24bit, 16.7 million colors) but are 18bit with ~ 262,000 colors. Still looks good but is a difference.
2)All LCDs are not the best with darks. So it will be hard to notice detail and shades of color.
