NON-Creative sound card

tried some other creative cards like audigy 4 or something.

Look up the X-Meridian sound card - I do believe it'll deliver what you're looking for. I bought the X-Mystique for the same reason and am quite pleased.

Im looking for NON-Craetive sound card that supports hardware sound. Ive got a X-Fi Extreme Music but its not compatible with my AMD/ASUS a8n-SLI combo. Been readin forums all over the net adn everyone has the problem (see my other thread http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=119183)

So any ideas?

I have an asus a8n sli premium mobo and x-fi extreme music and they both work just fine :s

Please can u tell me which version BIOS and Chipset drivers you have?

Ive read all over forums people are not getting any sound from the c-fi music card even though their onboard is disabled and Windows Device Manager shows all the hardware as working properly

I think its just for certain combinations of hardware like mine. Ive seen this card:

Its a Creative one, but not x-fi. Will this be a good alternative to the x-fi music?

i have the audigy 4. its not on par with the x-fi's but it allows for high quality sound to be used in bf2. also creative cards are the the only cards that use true eax. if other brands have it, then its not done right at all.

I'm not at home at the moment (at work), but i'll try and remember to post my bios and chipset driver versions when i get home.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. After rading all the reviews I was hyped when I got the card, shame Im having trouble with it :(

Go to the Start menu->All Programs->Creative->Sound Blaster X-fi->THX Setup Console

Or some variation of that.

I'm not sure what the chipset driver revision i am using is, but i do know that the bios is revision 1008.

I only have the SE version of so the highest BIOS is 0502. So I flashed the BIOS and updated the nforce driver to the latest ones. Then in the Creative Console I unchecked the 2 boxes under Headphones and.........

I HAVE SOUND!!

Gonna get BF2 up and running now see what all the hype was about, it better be good!
