Couple of questions. At this stage should I have more than just the crowbar and the handgun? Something with a little more firepower would help with the choppers.

I can;t seem to live long enough here to find the way out.

You cant take down the choppers. from this screenshot u can either go right and kill the sucking thing, and pick up sum ammo or go left climb over the trucks and proceed thought the level.

I wud say go right pick up all shit then go through the door and over the truck

You don't fight the choppers... just avoid them lol
you'll have to wait a bit before you get some more firepower...

lol... you must evade all fire coming from the chopper. later in the game. you can finally take down that copter.

Yes, you can not kill the helicopter. I even tried with impulse 101 after finishing the game and only the pilot falls out and the copter is still on my ass like Opera on Marylin Manson :|
