if i get a new cpu and mobo, will i also have to get a new case? i heard somewhere that i would have to get a new case but i am just asking here to make sure.

Yes, getting a new case will be much easier to install. keep ur old pc, it maybe useful sometimes.

it depends on the case you have now. if its a prebuilt one like dell,hp,emachines then i recommend a new case.

i apologize for my ignorance but how much does a decent case cost?

Depends on what type of mobo ur getting. normally they run from $20 to $100. mine costed $40. Newegg has some cool cases. check it out.

If you had an HP, Dell or other brand computer you will most likely need a new case. ATX standard is what you probably will be looking for.

You can get a decent case for as low as $20-30. But then again you can also get a really crappy case for $80. Point being price doesn't always say how good a case is. Compusa used to sell an awesome Antec case that was simple for $20. I don't think they do anymore though.

Make sure it has at least 1 80mm front fan and 1 80mm rear fan. You do not want a case that uses any smaller fans than that. A friend of mine bought a case last year that used a 40mm rear case fan. Not only did it suck at removing hot air from the case but it was LOUD. If you are not going to be moving the case a lot Steal is pretty sturdy. If you want a lighter case than look at aluminum cases.

Some of the cheaper cases have sharp edges inside and can cut pretty bad if you are not careful. Some cases have basic mounts but others make it really nice to install the parts with removable harddrive cages or optical drive rails.

Most powersupplies that are included are not near as good as powersupplies that you buy separately. Might as well get a case that does not include one then.

If you find some you like online then post the link and we can go over them with ya.
Antec, Lian Li, Thermaltake, Cooler Master and Chenming are some of the better known brands.

Would you list what kind of other components you have, such as number of hard drives/optical drives? It would give us a better idea of the amount of space/air flow you'll be working with, as multiple IDE cables tend to restrict movement of air inside the case.

The case would work. But I would not use the powersupply included. Powmax powersupplies fail too often. Also I would buy at least 1 more 80mm fan for the rear. Take the side fan off and put it in the front of the case. You can see the grills and 4 holes where the fan mounts. Center side fans don't do much good. If you want a side fan on the case then I'd pick one that has it directly over the CPU or GFX card. But still make sure the case has a fan in the front and back.

Personally, I'd get a different case. Most of the poor quality and cheap cases are flashy to get you to buy over others.

outta curiosity, what else are you going to put in the pc?

Ha, what a find for a cheap budget. Too bad it doesn't look like there is a place for a front fan.

try to go for around 30-50. i would recommend this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811147036 rosewill is a very good brand imo
Hey thats a good case. Good cooling too. Looks like you could buy a 120mm fan for the front and you'd be set for good quiet cooling.
Power supply is a little weak but who buys cases for the powersupply.
