hello. i am a noob too and am downloading Half Life 2 in hopes of acquiring CS:S as well. not sure if there is another way but you can't "preload" CS:S by right-clicking on the icon.

ive got 100% of CS:S but it says it needs updating no idea how to do that though.

ive tried deleting the blob file and seeing if itll update it but no joy so far. im 20% way through HL2 d/l atm ill wait a few hours and see........

Is there a way to dl cs:s without getting the whole thing... wit hl2 included... I too would like an answer...

not yet, you need to buy half life 2 in order to play cs:s aswell

cs:s hasnt been made available stand alone yet

ive bought the silver pack just gonna wait for HL2 to completely load then ill give it another go
