noob questions.

can a mac os run on a pc? I know there are ways windows can run on mac, but can it work vice versa? While im asking about OS's, what are some worthy mentions I can get cheep or free. I'd like to try some new OS's under differnt partitions, the new mac OS looks nice and I'd like to try it if I can. I know linix is open source ( does this mean i can get it free, not pirated? ) just a list of recomended OS's would be helpful thank!

yes linux and ubuntu are decent os's and they are 100% free. as far as i know macs are able to run windows with bootcamp but i believe it only works with the macs that have intel processors.

I got Mac OSX tiger to run on my PC yesterday, Still trying to get leopard to work.
If you want to install Mac OSX on your PC i recommend trying it on VMware first just to make sure your PC is fully compatible.

vmware is a virtual os. its almost like you have it partitioned but its really not.

ah, ok. well. I'v got ubuntu running... kinda. I got it installed and running on a seperate hard driver, however after the install and reboot it found a driver for ati cards. I assumed this would be good seeing as i have an ATI card, however I dont believe this was because after the splash screen all i get is a black one... I have an ATI HD 2900xt, I think its their most powerful card ( while its a nice card, it sadly does not stand up to nvidias top of the line card. ) any way.. it was working, it was pretty cool, then it didnt work , i mostly wanted this driver to work becuase I want to run in my native screen resolution but it doesnt seem to want to work . Am i just going to have to re install it?
